This white noise machine is fabulous. The assortment of sounds is excellent and each one is very clear. They don't run on an obvious loop like some brands which is very important to me. I appreciate the compact, modern design of the Big Red Rooster. For some reason, most white noise machines appear to be designed to take up as much room as possible on the bedside table. Why, oh, why? This is small enough to fit pretty much anywhere, meanwhile, it seems to have a much better speaker than any of the other brands I've seen. The last white noise machine we bought was ok but the volume was extremely limited. Others I've looked at sound tinny or distorted if the volume was turned up. This one sounds pleasant and clear across the range of volumes. The controls and the sound machine, overall, appeared to be high-quality and well-made. I bought this as a gift for my mom and she is really enjoying it. It seemed like a great deal, particularly at the price. It offered a lot more functionality and different sound options than white noise machines that cost several times more.I was impressed by the London Johnson company. They emailed me when the sound machine had shipped (and it shipped out very quickly after I ordered it - I think it was the next day!) and they provided me with a contact in case I had any problems with the purchase. They followed up after I received the sounds machine to make sure it had arrived and that I was happy with my purchase. This was exceptional customer service. I didn't have any problems but it was comforting to know that the company selling it was ready and willing to provide customer service, if needed.

I bought this sound machine to help our infant sleep more soundly. I was sceptical at first, it is really lightweight, but then again, there is not much to a sound machine I guess. Feels kind of fragile, but seems sturdy. Also, the inexpensive price made me wonder about the quality. I am happy to say, I love the sounds on this thing! Very crisp & clear. 10 sounds to choose from, all soothing. Seems to be working great for our baby, and now my wife wants one! Awesome quality for a great price with 10 sounds! Can't beat it! The only minor negative thing for me is that the buttons feel cheap.I do highly recommend this sound machine!

This is our second noise machine for the bedroom. The first one was a different brand and just didn't have good variety of sounds, or sound quality, but at least it worked. We got this one about a month ago and it is terrible. Don't believe the reviews, they're probably being paid for or something as has become rampant on Amazon. I am a 100% real person who purchased this product. You turn it on and it does have a good variety of sounds, and the quality is adequate. The trouble is the way the sounds are looped, it's very obvious, and then every so often the thing makes this absolutely horrid sound (think the sound that a walkie talkie makes when you push the button, like a "krrr" sound, but twice as loud as the ocean/thunderstorm/whatever noise you're listening to). It does this on every sound setting. At first I thought it was whenever the sound looped but then it started cutting out for 2-4 seconds at a time with the "krrch" sound every time it shut off and came back on. It is totally unsuable because you cannot fall asleep with constant annoying noises. This thing is a 100% piece of crap. The buttons are so cheap and when you press one it makes this cheap tinny sound so you know it's made with inferior parts and lots of plastic junk that will break. Even with that the thing would be acceptable if it didn't make that terrible noise intermittently every time you use it.Again, do not buy. Don't give this company your money. Spend $15 more and get one that actually works. Hope this helps someone out there avoid getting screwed like we did. It's not worth the cost to return it.

The variety of sounds is nice (although the heartbeat on this machine and my previous one, HoMedics Sound Spa, is creepy). Compared to my previous HoMedics device, the Big Red Rooster's construction feels cheap. In fact, the sound comes across as tinny. The machine offers, among other sounds, two bird songs. They're really nice, except at one point, a loud bird (in each sound) shouts. If you're trying to sleep, you find that you end up waiting for that bird to yell. Wish they had softened or removed that sound.My HoMedics device had the power and volume on the same dial. The Big Red Rooster has a separate power button, which is a great feature so you don't need to reset the volume each time you use the machine. I also like that the power button light isn't too bright at nighttime. The Big Red Rooster also has a timer for sounds.Overall, it's a decent machine that provides white noise for sleeping. My husband and I have found that the rain seems to be the best sleeping white noise for us; you can't tell when the loop is repeating (as you can with some of the other sounds).Nice purchase for the cost. In the future, I'll probably look for a more solidly built machine.
