Trophy Hunt (A Joe Pickett Novel)

Another winner by Box. I love his writings. They are exciting and funny and such good stories.

This was a fast easy read. I enjoyed it very much! I learned some things I never much thought about! Beside being entertained with characters I find captivating.

This particular story is just adding to the incredible Joe Pickett Series. It’s Action Packed, and there’s absolutely no pauses in this action packed series. I look forward to the next story.Edwin

Another C.J. Box - Joe Pickett mystery novel that kept me up too late at night! I just didn’t want to put it down - had to find out where the next chapter was going … and then, of course, I had to finish THAT chapter. The Pickett family is now part of MY life, too, and I can’t wait to see where the next move takes us! READ THIS BOOK!

This book contains the same great characters and action as the previous Joe Pickett books. I thoroughly enjoyed the plot twists and turns, but this book also carried an unresolved mystical (alien) element. I didn’t enjoy this part. In the words of Joe Pickett, “Nate, I hate woo-woo crap.”

Great author

This author can write like no one else as far as his first three books are concerned. He keeps you grabbing his books constantly to continue stories, however, this book was not good. The supernatural elements were a bit confusing to me. The parts about the bear were very confusing. His daughters dreams annoyed me too. I don't want the supernatural element to continue in his other books. I thought the story became a bit odd at one point, so I had to deduct to 3 stars. The first three books were 5's. I intend on reading book five. Back to the 4th book - The evil in it was really hard to grasp in way more than one character. I didn't want to stop reading it, but it wasn't as good as the others. I keep telling myself to read another book by a different author in between these books, but I can't seem to do that. I'm glad my brother-in-law told me about this series. It is a total escape when you want one. I recommend this author's first three books, but not this one. I also hated the weirdness of the young woman who sends him sexual pictures. It was pretty gross and unnecessary to the plot. This just contributed to the chaotic things interjected into this book. Joe doesn't seem to be the lead investigator in this book. He is as confused as the readers are. Do not start with this book. Books 1-3 are great.

CJ Box is an amazing novelist. His books are never predictable and nothing like you’ve ever read before. A Fantastic storyteller.

The story is half regular country town policing and half wilderness, laced with something more sinister. Something unworldly. Dark. I read it in one go and will move to the next one.

This is the fourth book in the Joe Pickket series by the author and as always the author does a great job with creating a good story with thrills all the way. Recommended.

ワイオミング、サドルスプリング。去年の冬愛娘エイプリルを亡くした失意のピケット一家は不況下で給与不足の猟区管理官ジョーを助けようと妻のメアリべスが図書館を辞めて自宅で会計事務所を開き土地の牧場主などを顧客にし始めた。フライフィッシング中ヘラジカの死骸をみつけると死骸は顔の皮を剥がれ身体の部位が切り取られているという異様な状態で、灰色熊の仕業にしてはやりかたが腑に落ちない。そうこうするうちに近在の牧場で牛たちが同じような殺され方をされ、続いて人間が二人かなり離れた場所で同様な切り刻まれ方で殺されたことから保安官、FBIなどの捜査チームが組織された。ジョー・ピケットも呼ばれたが因縁のある保安官・FBIから「お前はムースをみつけただけ。こっちは殺人捜査だ」と爪弾きされる。「犯人はグリズリーだ」果ては「エイリアンだ」と騒ぎが発散するなか、ジョーは盟友ネイトと組み、メアリベスの交友情報とネット検索の協力を得ながら人間関係を炙り出していく。娘のシェリダンが時折見る夢のお告げとか最後の山場での唐突な〆など シリーズファンなら十分楽しめるがそうでない向きには今ひとつ風呂敷の広げ方が半端な感じがしそうな一冊だった。

Another great in this series. Love the stories and getting to know well some of the main characters. Love Joe Picket he reminds me of my Dad!
