Q: The last time i ordered this it was $32. Why did the price go up so much?

Check with the seller or manufacturer. It should only be sold in the mid-twenties low thirties because of the quality.

Q: Is the rod measured from finial point or the rod only? I am trying to figure which size to order. Window frame is 72"

It's the rod only. If you have a window that is 72 inches you would need a rod that expands at least to 78 Inches.
