There are rodents living in our neighbor's garden. Our cockatoo would spend hours digging away at the back corner of our garden, trying to get under the fence to get at them. She’s a small dog (25lb), but she would dig a massive hole, dirt flying everywhere. Muddy dog running around the deck. We tried everything - chicken wire wrapped around rocks buried in the corner (she digs under it), large rocks on top, a new cedar planter in the corner - she tunnels under everything. Finally, in desperation we bought this product. It works! We set the range to 4 (about 5 ft), placed the fake rock in the corner, and adjusted the collar. The first time she went to dig, there was some confusion, a bit of backing off, cautious circling of the area. She ventured into her favourite dig zone, but quickly backed off. This was the pattern for a few days, but then she just gave up on the corner. She still chases squirrels (and she caught a rat the other day), but she avoids the digging corner - even without the collar on.

We have three cats and love them all, but one of them has an issue that in other households he might have been disowned or forever barred from the house. He pees on my furniture. I should say he USED to pee on it. I began reading books on cats and understanding their issues: cat on the bottom rung of power AND cat on the top rung of power (he is definitely on the bottom rung, poor guy!) can pee to try to establish power or to maintain power, to claim territory or keep other cats from using an area of the house. That is another topic and lots could be said. The point is, to allow him in the house, we had to keep him from going into the room where he peed. We trashed the Italian leather sofa AND pulled up the carpet because it was ruined and reeked of urine. When we put new wooden floors down and bought a new leather sofa, we didn't want him even in the room. Looked like he was going to be an outdoor cat. A friend had a dog that peed on her carpet upstairs, and she had this collar she put on her dog that would shock her if she went too close to the unit. Worked like a charm! Kept her dog from going upstairs. No more peeing. We looked into it and saw that it was also good for cats. Ordered it. When it arrived, I was a bit dismayed by how big it was. The idea of shocking him made me sad and I didn't want to hurt him. We didn't put it on him at first. Until he peed in that room on the couch. I told my husband to put it on him. It was that or keep him outdoors all the time. (In case of an accident- I highly recommend Nature's Miracle Just For Cats. It takes the smell completely away. This is very effective especially when you use this to begin with. Our couches and carpet were ruined because we had tried many other products before that and none effectively dealt with the odor.) Anyway, the option was to put it on him or keep him outside forever. Did I mention he would stay in the house nearly 24/7 if I let him? So the collar went on, and he was a FAST learner. No more peeing. It has been a few years, and he is now an outdoor cat overnight and I let him in the house where I can keep an eye on him during the day. He doesn't get into that room, but I don't totally trust him to not find another area he might like to "claim" as his and start peeing on. This is my second order. The collar was beginning to getting sparse and thin after years of use. If you cut the length of the collar, be sure to use a match to stop any of the threads from fraying.

I have a mastador, a bassett cross and a pomeranian. The mastador has been chewing up everything including chewing my garden berry bushes to the ground. I have a fenced yard and didn't want to put in an electric fence. Plus each area was distinctly seperate from the other. I purchased this item, set the rock out and within two investigations of the rock the Mastador won't go anywhere near it. The boundry size from the rock itself is small. Don't think you will get 12 feet out of it. Think of 12 foot radius so at the most you will get six feet from the rock itself. I expanded my zones by adding the wire option on and that makes a HUGE difference (ebay the wire is around 24.00 for 500 feet, shipping included) both in the effectiveness of the signal and the size of the area you can cover. I would not buy this item without the wire unless you have a very small area to protect. My bassett cross is much more resitant to the shock effect. He will walk into the signal zone and you will hear his collar beeping at him and see his eyes blinking as he stands there. I took the time a few times to tell him "Ace get out" and when he walked out of the zone and quit getting shocked then I petted him and told him he was a good dog. Now he is starting to pay attention to the beep instead of just standing there until it ramps up to the shock level. The collar for the pom is still coming. If I don't have good results there I will let you know but so far I am completely pleased with the results of using this product. In conjuntion with other boundries (like fences and planters) it works especially well. One other thing that I am doing is getting some white flags (I bought the ones in the construction department for 16.00/100 instead of the ones in the pet department 20.00/25). I am going to flag the boundaries temporarily and slowly remove the flags to help out the slower dog and to give them a visual barrier to establish where they are going to trigger the collar.
