Worked better than expected on thick plastic application.
Background: I purchased this bag heat sealer to seal up unused portions of trash bags used as cat litter box liners. The pre-made litter box liners are nice but they are expensive. I had a box of construction grade trash bags that were not getting used in the garage and started cutting the bottom third of the bag off and using it for the litter box. The problem was there was two thirds of a heavy duty garbage bag left over. I taped a couple of the extras and used them but it was a pain and tape can be expensive too. I set out to find a way to use the extra plastic material.Deciding on the Tenten product: I looked at many of the other low cost heat sealers and decided on this one simply because the reviews were pretty good and it had a rechargeable battery. I dislike having to buy batteries for things. After delivery: I unpacked the item which was shipped in a quality package. Plugged it in and waited for it to charge up. I read the product insert and my expectations were set pretty low because it stated that it was rated for bags up to 0.3mm thick. The construction bag is 1.6mm thick. I really did not expect much because the application I was hoping to use it on was simply too thick.Trying the product on the bags: One area of the instructions discusses how to seal thicker bags. I followed the instructions and preheated the sealer for 3 seconds before slowly moving the sealer across the bag to seal it. Well it worked just fine. After time I got the hang of it and was easily making a bunch of litter box liners from the extra plastic I had saved up from cutting off the bottoms of the trash bags. One thing I found out real quick was using this sealer for this type of odd application will discharge the battery quite quickly. So do not be surprised after making 4 or 5 litter box liners the seals will start to not hold because the heating element stops getting hot enough for the thicker material.Overall I was impressed it was working for such a heavy duty application.

Well worth the money, works well.
It's quite amazing, I didn't expect it to work as well as it does. Takes a little bit of practice to get the hang of using it, but it is worth the effort. I'm making all kinds of custom sized & shaped bags. Take a few baggies out of the kitchen drawer and get to work and don't be afraid to mess up. I was trying to just get a bond line between 2 layers of film and this is difficult. i was afraid of cutting through, but found out that is probably the best way to use it as it leaves a strong melted finished edge. Just keep it moving at a slow speed that lets it cut. I haven't tried the ones that use replaceable batteries. I expect you could go through a lot of batteries. This one recharges quickly and seems to last long enough to do one or two yard long bonds on 6 mil plastic. It's an inexpensive, simple tool and seems to be quite well made. When you get it it seems too hard to open up. I was fearful it might break. Not a problem. The slider which allows it to turn on is also a latch which holds it closed and off when not being used. Clever design!

Good sealer at the right price
The sealer works very well. I believe the sealing wire should be a little wider though as it can easily cut the bag as it is sealing. However, after using it several times, you get the feel as to how fast to slide it as you seal the bag. Other than that, it works great. The magnet on the back allows me to keep it on my fridge right next to the pantry. It charges pretty quick and you don't have to worry about replacement batteries.

anyways it was a great concept, but in reality this product doesn't work ...
I don't care on getting a refund, my time is not worth it of packaging and going to a UPS store.anyways it was a great concept, but in reality this product doesn't work as advertise, and after using the device for only 4 times I think my device is faulty because it doesn't heats the plastic, I already did all the troubleshooting I could think of to no avail. Also the device it will never work properly until they redesigned it again, because when it was working before the 4th time I tried it, I kept on having to do one side first and the continue to the other side because almost on every product with a plastic bag there is an extra layer of plastic on the middle to reinforce the plastic bag, and when you try to seal the bag with the heat sealer that reinforcement that runs on the middle of the plastic bag gets in the way, and at the end you can't seal the bag.if you don't believe on my review go ahead and try it for yourself and you'll see the issue I'm trying to explain....I do not recommend this product.

Serviceable, not painless.
Not spectacular - the seal is often there, sure, but it's kind of thin and not the catch-all replacement for chips clips I may have hoped. It tends to struggle to seal the center of a chip bag where the extra flap is - I haven't really worked out a method to neatly drag across that area just yet.The aspect that cuts the bag as it seals is nice in theory, but often in practice, the cut is either not very strong and when it is, it's too close to the seal. There will be a few times where you're removing the excess and unavoidably tear the seal open and have to re-seal again.Charging by USB is very quick and appreciated, however, and maybe the only reason I'm not going through the effort of returning - even if I only use it once in a while, at least I'm not wasting batteries as it sits around.Finely packaged and not cheaply made, to be sure. If you're curious and have the money to spend, give it a shot.
