You may want to replace your EL34s and skip the KT88s.
Replaced broken-in EL34Bs with these for my Decware "Rachael" 6 watt S.E.T. ultra-high fidelity, self-biasing, tube amp (driving efficient Klipsch Heresy III speakers). Right out of the box, they are better sounding than the EL34Bs that the amp is voiced for by the amp's designer, Steve Deckert, IMO. I also compared on the same music Gold Lion KT88s and Winged-C EL 34s. The KT77s had the same intoxicating vocal presence of the EL34Bs, something I regard very highly, but without the compression and comparatively loose bass of the EL34s. Clearer high frequencies, too. The Winged-Cs were too bright (albeit not broken in) and not as full sounding or musical as the larger-bottled EL34Bs. The KT88s were more balanced in that no frequency was emphasized or more forward, but seemed to need a lot more wattage, such as from a Class AB, push-pull, tube amp. (They're wonderful sounding tubes, but just not for an S.E.T Class A amp, I think). I'd done "rolling." The KT77s are what I'll be using in that remarkably musical, transparent little amp from now on.

Great tubes
I replaced a couple of no name EL-34B tubes with these in my small tube amp and wow! My amp is nowhere close to a McIntosh but these tubes did a number on it. Not only does it have a much wider audio range but there was a noticeable increase in volume output as well. Excellent tumes well worth the money.

Just a regular tube, nothing magical, WAY OVERPRICED.
Nothing magical, just a regular tube, I tried it on my Line 6 DT50 212 and there is no difference between this one and stock EHX.

Just "so so" there are better out there. Pricey.
Over-rated in my opinion. Didn't meet my personal needs for my system. Lacking in tone quality IMO.

Better Sound, Lower Temperature
I got these to upgrade the power tubes in my Marshall DSL20hr amp. It had EL34's with a red Marshall logo which is suppose to be JJ brand. These tubes gave it a fuller sound and it does not run nearly as hot. With the old tubes it would get hot enough you could smell it. That is no longer the case. It's still warm to the touch but nowhere near what it was.
