I picked up this hand crimper mainly for working with solar MC4 connectors, and it's been doing a great job so far. It supports 10, 12, and 14 gauge wire (American standard), and the jaws also show European mm² markings on the dies, which is helpful depending on what you're working with. What really stands out is the interchangeable die system. The crimping teeth slide out, so you can use the same tool body for other electrical applications—like butt connectors, spade terminals, or specialty crimps. If I had known that earlier, I would’ve bought this brand first and just swapped dies for my butt connectors instead of buying a whole separate tool. The tool felt a little stiff at first. On the first 5 or 6 crimps, I had to really squeeze hard at the end to get the ratchet mechanism to release. After breaking it in a bit, it started working smoothly—the release now kicks in properly once I fully compress the handle. Crimp quality is solid. I've used it on solar wires and MC4 connectors and haven’t had a single weak connection. The dies feel strong and precise, and you get clean, secure crimps once you get used to the feel of the ratchet. Realistically, if you're not switching dies constantly, this is a great all-in-one tool. Yes, it’s a bit tedious to swap teeth for every job if you’re doing high-volume work, but for DIY solar setups or occasional electrical projects, this makes a lot of sense and saves space in the toolbox. Price-wise, it’s very reasonable for what you get. Durable, flexible, and does the job right.
