Worked and then, iOS update killed it.
This worked out of the box for a couple of months until the recent iOS update killed it.I hate that Apple is allowed to kill accessories that would otherwise work. It’s as if they are legally allowed to sabotage an accessory. Because that’s what it is; sabotage. So, sadly, this was another nicely designed wire that doesn’t work after an iOS update.

Must be wired differently than OEM Lightning-1/8" adapters.
Not sure what differs in the wiring from OEM, but the Apple Lightning-1/8" adapter passes both streaming and iPhone communications fine, but this adapter only passed streaming/ music data on through analog input of car stereo. Tried just the 1/8" portion, then the lightning plug, on two different vehicles, same result. It would have been great if I could stream using this cable, have hands-free voice communication, and simultaneously charge my phone, but something is different in the wiring of this cable - not the same as the original Apply pigtail adapter, which works with both, but can't simultaneously charge phone.. BTW - phone is an iPhone 7. It does charge phone and passes music and streaming content, just no voice communications. Almost a solid hit, but misses on one major count!

Absolutely works like described.
We are taking a road trip to Texas from Iowa. We brought our XM radio box with us. However, we wanted to make sure we could listen to the audiobooks from my cell phone through the XM radio box. It works great. The only problem we have, is that we have to turn the volume up to an extreme volume for it to sound normal. It’s not too loud, but it’s just an FYI for you. We turned the cell phone volume up as loud as it would go, but it didn’t make a difference. But it was well worth it. And it works great.

Didn't Even Last Two Months
At first the static was intermittent and relatively rare, though static when you first hooked the charger up was common. Then moving the cord would sometimes precipitate static. At the end, less than 2 months after purchase, the static was much more frequent with cord movement and often continued when playing audio. Do not purchase. Poorly designed or made. Very disappointed.

Your satisfaction will depend on aux and power jack location
I bought one for myself and one for my daughter. Works in my car where the aux jack is located right beside a power jack, but for some reason won’t work for phone calls (all other aux features work). In my daughter’s car, the two ends that are only about 6” long after they split, cannot be plugged in simultaneously.

Wouldn’t recommend
I bought this cord for a long road trip so I could listen to podcasts. It takes several tries to get the cord to actually connect to my phone, most of the time when I plug it in, it doesn’t start charging or playing anything through the aux cord. Then, once I do get it connected, the sound quality is terrible and it sounds like I’m listening to an old scratchy record. It got so bad that I ended up just turning up the volume on my phone and listening to it straight from the phone, without the aux cord playing it through the speakers. I regret this purchase-don’t waste your money

Works!
I've had splitters or headphone adapters before that didn't work at all or were "not supported". This one gets the job done with no complaints! It's perfect for getting power to your iPhone while also plugging it into your Aux on your (probably older) radio. It looks nice too and is very flexible.

Great way to connect iPhone to 2013 MX5 and 2009 Lexus ES
I have an iPhone X and two older cars. They have Bluetooth, but only for phone purposes. This cable allowed me to easily my connect my phone for music without the need for the Bluetooth audio-in system I was using. Great if your aux plug and audio in jack are close to one another.
