Great Little Hatchet
Good, German quality. Head was tight and just needs sharpening. The leather edge protector is good quality. I'm very pleased.

great balance and comfortable handle
The sheath is a little tight but that is not a problem. Just need to be careful - anyway. This is a tool. A tool for carving, choking up on the handle for control. I don't throw axes nor would I consider throwing this one.

Very good for a cheap axe
Mine just arrived and none of the poorly fitted handle problems reported by others. Gave it a good torture test right off the bat driving a couple 6" ringshanks into hardwood and no looseness. Handle is mediocre, appears to be generic hardwood, I think the Chinese use siberian elm. It holds up well to abuse, but can shrink over time. Ergonomics are decent, it indexes fairly well. Nothing a some light sanding won't fix. Some sort of Godawful orangish stain in the wood with a tacky oil finish. Turpentine and BLO will fix that. The steel appears to be pretty decent. It's softish, and not brittle. A Swiss file easily removes material for a basic edge, Arkansas stone finished it to razor and it held through cutting clean wood. An soft box nail left a small ding in the edge, but didn't chip or divet. This is how it should be for a light chopping/splitting tool. Edge was sloppily ground, but basic geometry is perfect, almost identical to my vintage Norlund Hudson's which is the best cutting axe I've ever owned. Just needs some file and stone work to fine tune. Steel has a pleasant ring to it, and it finely splits kindling with little effort and a straight cut, cuts green saplings with ease, and has a good flat blunt end and balance for striking. All in all a great tool for the price if you know how to refinish a handle and fine tune a cutting edge.Edit after a year of hard use. This thing is a kindling razor. Did tune up the edge with a swiss file and stone. Edge is holding well. Splits and cuts very well. Ended up sanding the handle 220 grit, and removing some extra wood in a few fat spots to make it index better and not roll. Refinished with straight BLO and it's butter smooth now. A great tool, but not for amateurs. Needs a little finishing touches to cut like the Swedish one it resembles. Surprisingly the steel seems as good as the one I'm talking about.

Axe Head is Loose
I have previously bought products from this brand and have been pleased with the quality, so I had expected this hatchet to be a sturdy addition to my camping gear. But right out of the box I noticed the axe head was loose, not enough to be dangerous and fly off, but definitely enough to be annoying. I tried to drive the spacers in deeper, but wasn't able to budge them an inch. It doesn't seem to effect overall performance, it cuts well, is balanced and is comfortable to hold. I was just disappointed in the failure to properly attach the axe head.

Love this hatchet
Ok. I liked the look and build right off. It has a thin grind to it. Which I like in a hatchet. It’s not really for heavy splitting after all. The head had the smallest bit of a dull edge. Not much. So I gave the nice sharpening stone a little run. Barely more then a love brush. I cut myself so easily I had to laugh. I gave it a little bushcraft test. Made feather sticks as good as any of the knives I have. I am very pleased. Feels well built. Will see how she holds up in the brush. 💪🏼

Garbage Craftsmanship
The head of the hatchet came loose after being swung 5 or 6 times, which is a severe safety issue and would have been detrimental if relied upon for survival. The handle grain was running 90° to the direction of the hatchet head, which couldn’t be less ideal for strength and longevity. Also, the handle isn’t oiled; it comes with some cheap paint/lacker which prevents the wood handle from being oiled at all (probably the reason the head came loose instantly). This is a heavily marketed and advertised POS product. The production quality puts users and others nearby in danger. I can’t imagine this hatchet lasting an average user more than a week. Avoid this hatchet like the plague. As a courtesy, and in a spirit of honesty, the return process was seamless.
