Fabulous one sitting read!
Boy is this book a good one and its her first novel. Its written from different people's point of view which has become more common and it also changes the time frame of "then" and "now". It is written very tightly and really really well. There is a point where you realize its going to start surprising you and from there it really takes off and you have to keep reading. The main character Oliver Ryan is one that changes in front of your eyes and I love how she did this. She obviously understands human nature and has a good grasp of good vs evil. Its just over 200 pages of exceptional reading. gisela

Excellent reading
Excellent reading, plus: the quality of the paperback was bad, the book fell apart during the second reading, but Amazon swiftly replaced it at no cost.

Excellent Read
How do we decide who is a “monster”? How far will a person go to achieve the perfect life? These questions and so many more are raised in Luz Nugent’s excellent, multi-layered novel, “Unraveling Oliver”. As so many reviewers have said, this novel grips you from the excellent first sentences. I guarantee, however, that you will not reach the end of the book thinking of Oliver the same way you do from those first pages. Is he to be pitied? Is he “just” a psychopath? This book would be great for a book club and would generate a lot of discussion. No, not every member would like it, but a book that you think about and talk about has great value in my opinion and deserves to be read. This is not a “thriller” but is a slow burning, in/depth exploration of what makes us do the things we do.

So good!
📌 Liz Nugent doesn't split hairs; she gets straight to the point!Although this book is quite thin, believe me when I say that the content is quite a heavyweight. Liz Nugent doesn't split hairs; she gets straight to the point! Liz Nugent writes at a high level, I love how she is able to vary her style depending on each character; she has a dense writing style that won't waste anyone's time. I LOVE HER!I have to admit that when I first started reading this book, I was a little intimidated by the number of characters and shifts in perspective and worried that it would be difficult to keep up, but my fears were unfounded; everything was extremely clear and understandable. I learned about the story, the opinions, and the various testimonies of the multiple characters.Every character tells their story in the first person, making you feel as if they are speaking directly to you. In no particular order, Oliver's “companions” and (his wife) Alice's friends tell stories about Oliver. As more of Oliver's past was revealed, I became increasingly intrigued. Everyone has their own story to tell, but Oliver's is always the primary focus. The main character, "Oliver," is not intended to be a sympathetic character; his actions make him even less likable than he already is, which didn't bother me because I was hoping that at the end I'd find out why this man had developed into such a scumbag; after all, the past shapes us all, and some people are made to be what they are now because of what happened to them in the past. We never know how many terrible things like grief and suffering have already struck a person.Overall, "Unraveling Oliver" is not for everyone; however, if you enjoy compelling and character-driven stories that are unusual and uniquely told, then you should read this! I devoured this book in less than two days; a dark and fantastic story! This author is so gifted, her books deserve a lot more recognition!⭐️4/5
