UPDATE: This was my oil of choice, but now they won't sell it by the quart, and in qty of 6 at a time, the price is about 40% HIGHER per quart from Amazon than just months ago. Gee that was about the time they started selling AMAZON Full Synthetic... isn't that interesting? WELP... not going to put AMAZON Brand, unproven into Das Bimmer, or my commuter TDI that just flipped 300K miles. Amazon Syn is US spec and made, without BMW and VW certifications that this Valvoline MST euro covered on both my cars. Soooo switching to Liqui Moly 5W-40 Euro Made FULL syn and Full spec for my rides. I need the ability to add a few quarts between changes so moving to liqui Moly with 5L and 1L bottles available. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Very high quality fully synthetic Oil in hard to find 5W-40 for my 2000 VW Jetta TDI. This oil meets all the VW Specs, 502, 505 etc. plus many other German and import makers criteria and spec requirements. This oil price on amazon is about what you would pay for a big-name brands syn blend or std. mineral oil elsewhere. My cars oil consumption is lower vs. the Shell Rotella used on my last change. Mileage is up, and my car and turbo seem to wake up faster than the usual sluggish warm up time was with the Rotella. Just changed it at 284k miles this week, I run it 7500 miles tween... could probably go 10K but I only do that with syn on cleaner gas engines, not my diesel.

This is the best deal I've found for the special type of oil required by my 2007 Sprinter van. Many of the problems with carbon build-up and EGR cooler clogging are associated with using the wrong "spec" oil. You can go through all the miriad of choices available at some auto parts stores and not find a single one meeting the MB 229.51 spec these vehicles require. Note, there are many Valvoline SynPower products that also do not meet this spec. This one does, and aside from showing the proper spec on the container, it is labeled "MST". MST stands for Mid SAPs Technology. SAPs is sulfated ash, phosphorus, sulfur. It has a low ash content, which is what reduces the deposits mentioned earlier. I live in a hot climate, so I prefer a higher viscosity rating, which this has, although the same oil is also available in a lower viscosity rating. Here's the list of all oils meeting this spec: [...] Given that my vehicle requires 13 quarts of engine oil, once spec is met, low price is an important consideration.
