Rentaro Aijo is your typical awkward but likable high school guy who has been turned down by 100 girls he has asked out, putting him in a spurned funk. That all changes after an encounter with an unusual god who tells him that he will have 100 dates in his future, but will also come with a few bizarre strings. He then meets two girls who will both be his destined soulmate: the sweet, busty Hakari and the no-nonsense tsundere Karane. Despite the quick shenanigans the three get into, Rentaro is determined to make sure they’re both happy and that they get along. Just as things go smoothly, a third girl will join in and that is the small-but-shy book lover Shizuka who gets her happy ending after Rentaro helps her find her “voice” in the group.Aside from its harem-esque feel and awfully long title, there’s a great story in this manga with plenty of romance surprises and shenanigans and less brainless-ness Rentaro is a great protagonist as he’s likable, caring and very determined unlike the other dense guys I’ve seen in “Girlfriend, Girlfriend”, “Tomo-Chan” and “Rent-a-Girlfriend”. The plot and its premise, with a surprising catch, definitely get going after the first couple of chapters and after that it’s a packed rom-com. The girls bring a lot of complexity with their differing personalities, while also learning of one’s sad past.For now, “100 Girlfriends” really is a fantastic manga that has a lot of romance, humor and friendship. I wonder what’ll happen when more of Rentaro’s “100 dates” will enter his life. <b>A- (91%/Excellent)</b>

I can't stress enough how much I love this series so far just from the first volume. I was laughing while reading it the whole way through. Stellar comedy. Hilarious chaotic premise. Just a joy to read from front to back. Can not wait for volume 2.
