I received one with an illegal UK plug (no fuse, small distance between pins and pins close to the edge of the plug casing, see image for reference) initially that was shipped from China (which I was unaware of when ordering), however after complaining and receiving a refund, I ordered one straight from Amazon and it came with a fused plug that looked like the genuine one on their site ( http://www.nitecore.co.uk/Blog/Post/20-counterfeit-alert-to-nitecore-charger-buyers.htm AND http://www.electricalsafetyfirst.org.uk/product-recalls/2015/04/counterfeit-nitecore-d4-digi-charger-updated-28042015/ ). Make sure to thoroughly check your item is genuine before using, there's a lot of counterfeits on the market and some can pose serious risks to the user's safety. The item itself is perfect, very versatile which is great for those with many different rechargeable battery types. The 'low' mode for charging is really useful for my smaller capacity RCR123 batteries to help prolong their life. Also being able to turn the LCD screen off means it won't light up my room when charging batteries overnight.

Just died
Bought this unit a couple of years ago and only used it a handful of times. I had reason to use it yesterday to charge two AA NIMH batteries. I plugged it in and loaded the two batteries. Everything seemed fine at first, display lit and was indicating the state of the batteries. I checked up on it a few hours later and everything seemed dead. No display and no charging was taking place. Checked the voltage using a meter and that showed 0 voltage. Very disappointing to say the least as it seemed to be a decent build quality and had got good reviews. I would not purchase this brand again.

very impressed
Bought this on Friday and it arrived on the Saturday. First impressions are very good. Good packaging with plastic tray to hold charger and UK 3 pin plug / cord so it can be stored back in the box between charges. Clear screen showing charging level and timer (counts up so full charging time shown when finished). Springs to hold the batteries are not too tight or too loose (Goldilocks would approve). I had also bought 2 new 2500 mah 35A IMR High Drain Flat Top batteries and they fitted perfectly. It charged both simultaneously taking just under 5 hours to complete the task. I then charged another 2 batteries of the same size and the result was the same. The unit got warm but not hot although, to be on the safe side, I sat it up vertically to allow any warmth to dissipate more easily. Only 4 stars as I can't comment on longevity but so far I am very impressed.

A good, informative, battery charger
I am not a techie nor an electrician so all I can say about this charger is that it does what it says on the box and I am very pleased with it. Perhaps not the fastest charger in the world but I gather slow charging is better for Li-ion batteries. It has charged all my 18650 batteries to a maximum of 4.20 volts without problem. When it gets close to full charge it seems to slow down and I gather this is necessary to allow the batteries to recover from the initial high charging. Perhaps the best advice I can give to potential purchasers is to check out the videos of this product on Utube. I bought it because I had a much cheaper charger and was never too sure whether it was charging fully or not. This charger shows the time taken, the increasing voltage of the battery as it is charged and the input power and with 18650 batteries it automatically stops charging when they reach the maximum 4.20 volts. I gather this charger has previously been cloned but now has a code on the box which can be authenticated on the Nitecore website...thankfully mine is genuine.

Good charger
I've used this for charging 18650 and 14500 batteries and it works great. It's not the fastest charger, but it charges them at a steady 500 mA per battery (CC mode), up until it is nearing capacity then reduces to whatever the battery is accepting (CV mode). This should help preserve the battery for longer. When charging I have kept checking the batteries and they do get slightly warm, but never hot to the touch (I've had other chargers where the batteries get too hot to hold). The onscreen information about the batteries is very useful. It shows the charge level for both batteries with bar graphs at the same time. You can select a battery for more information, with the display then showing the charging mode and battery type. The screen also rotates through showing the battery voltage, charging rate and charging time. When it has finished charging it will display the total charging time. It would have been nice if it displayed how much mAh has been put into the battery whilst charging, but it's not a major issue.I did find with smaller batteries that it was quite easy to knock the + off the charging point if I'm fiddling with the battery, but it's fine if leave the batteries alone. The charger accepts power with figure 8 (C7) power cord, which is supplied with a UK plug. It also has an 12 VDC input, so it could be charged from a car, however no cable is supplied for this (and I doubt I would ever use it). Before I purchased this charger I had been concerned about receiving a fake one, however I checked with nitecore and the seller I bought from (LifeMods) is an authorised reseller. When I received the package I checked everything and it looked ok, the plug is safe and the charger looks well made. There is an authentication code on the top of the box, which you scratch to reveal, and then enter into Nitecores website. This worked great for me.The charger came with a UK plug, however there is also a socket for charging using a car charger, but no cable is provided for this.Overall an excellent charger for the price.
