There is a faint but perceptible undertone of chocolate and leather. Strong notes of cedar. This particular oil possesses the unusual contradiction (prized by connoisseurs) of being both crisp but also slightly waxy in smell. Patchouli should not have notes of nutty (indicative of an aged product), or camphorous, and this one certainly does not. To the more advanced of perfumers, a patchouli may brandish a hint of mint. And that's okay, but personally, I prefer the oils without the mint note, as this one. To use a more visual comparison for those that "see" smells as I do: imagine a forest floor on a chilly morning after a rain - bright, alert, clean, fresh, woody... yet intriguing and mysterious. It reminds you of something, but you don't know what. All in all, one of the best to wear daily at an unbeatable price. Seller shipped promptly. This is not a long lasting smell of pachuly at all. Not good quality at all.
