This line head assembly came with the spring and I have to say it is the perfect fit for my Ryrobi 40V straight shaft line trimmer. Indeed I got two of them.As the bolt/screw on base of my old unit was in good shape I simply popped on the outer housing in and fed in and spooled on the new line in less than 5 minutes - put it to work immediately. The bump and feed work flawlessly. 5 thumbs up !👍👍👍👍👍

This is an item that will wear out pretty quickly with normal use. This is a good value,it works perfectly. I will buy more. Ryobi is all about planned obsolescence, but If you are handy they can be fixed pretty easy.

Review in progress:Initial thoughts:This was relatively easy to install. I did have to take the ?stub shaft? off the end of my Ryobi older model 40-v expandit trimmer after removing the old head. This threaded on but doesn’t offer a means to tighten it at all… I feel like this is gonna spin loose at 5,000 rpm and destroy something. I clamped the end of the flexible shaft with some vice grips and hand tightened the head as much as I could, but I’d really like to have two nuts to wrench down on like the original design. Theoretically the head spins opposite the threads, so should always be trying to tighten itself but I have concerns.Seems sturdy. Not sure about the review where the guy said it kept cutting his string. Will find out this weekend when it run it through its paces and update the review.

The years of use made me forget how effective my weedeater was when it was new. Replacing the head has brought back its vigor and ability. It was super simple to replace and works just like the original. However, I do recommend upgrading to some aftermarket line instead of the factory stuff. That has been a game changer!

So far so good. I installed the unit on my S430 trimmer. I had to remove adapter from trimmer to expose the threads. I was able to screw on the new trimmer head and tighten. Once installed I was able to feed new trimmer line through the eyelets. Quick and easy.
