LeupoldBX-1 Rogue Binoculars, 8x25mm (59220)

I was amazed to find some Leupold binocs for such a good price! I had a pair that I lost somehow, and it didn't break the bank to replace them. Quality is what you'd expect from Leupold, I have experience with their rifle scopes, and was not dissapointed in these binoculars. The vision is crystal clear, they are easy to focus, and convenient to carry. Small form and ergonomic shape make them comfortable to hold while viewing, and durable casing doesn't make me feel like I am handling a glass slipper. Obviously they aren't super high magnification, but for me that isn't a big problem. For the price, I doubt you will find anything better quality than these.

Bought these based on Leupold reputation and that many feel 8x42 is ideal for finding and seeing wildlife. I've never had a Leupold product before but was impressed by some of their other products. These are light weight and have impressive clarity. I really like the rugged feel and how the lenses are set back a bit and appear better protected than other binoculars but theses are larger than identically powered competitor binoculars. Some of the reviews mention trouble adjusting the focus -I am not experiencing this. My only complaint is that the strap was a bit hard to attach. I will update after returning from Yellow Stone!Back from Yellow Stone. They worked beautifully. They were easy to use, images were crisp and bright and they held up in the rain. Only complaint was that at some of the longer ranges, the eight power magnification was not quite enough. No fault of the binoculars but if going to Yellow Stone, an 8x25 may not be quite enough.

Firstly, the product arrived quickly. Secondly, just as anticipated, leupold just is what it is. These are a really solid product, even though they are on the "low end". They have a good weight to them, the rubberized coating is easy to grip. Setup and adjustment is easy and smooth. I half expected the low light with the smaller objective lenses to be an issue. I have not had any trouble seeing my target. The lens quality is very good, I am not sure I would want or need anything better for my purposes. I will mainly be using them for archery target spotting. But they are also used as general purpose, I.e. Sporting events, spotting animals, birdwatching. I took them in to a live music venue (had crappy seats) and was glad that I did, I could see the stage and the performers, even from the cheap seats. I must admit that they were a bit on the heavy side for that. But for everything else mentioned, they are just right.

These aren't high end optics like Nikon, Zeiss, etc., but they are excellent for the price. I carried them on recent trip to the mountains. Compact enough to be attached to my belt or web gear. They were clear enough for me to detect a person from almost a mile away, who was blended in with the trees and brushes while approaching a deer, that bunch of us didn't realize his presence until I scanned the area with my pair. They seem to be well made, proof of almost everything, light enough that for hiking and extended viewings. I compared several brands. Too bad, most well known brands are all made in China. I was willing to pay more for a good pair, but I decided on these.

I understand that this is by no means high-end glass, but I got these to replace a pair of Nikon Travellites -- (not waterproof - I won't make that mistake again) -- and they don't seem to focus nearly as well. They just seem fuzzy around the outside edges no matter how much I play with the focus and diopter.Although they are compact and light, they are noticeably heavier than the previous Nikons well. I hope it's all the waterproofing that makes them heavier.
