Great little amp
I've had this amp about 18 months now and it's still going strong so I thought a quick review might help others.Highlights:- For inputs, there is a line in (phonos), USB port and Bluetooth- Bluetooth works well with decent range. I frequently have the laptop 10-15 feet away and it works without drop outs- Line in works great with a turntable or other line out equipment (CD, DVD, TV, etc.)- Sound quality is strong and clear with good stereo separation.- There are bass/treble controls (see lowlights)- Silent when no signal being received with low power consumption. Can just leave switched on.Lowlights:- The sound is colored with bass frequencies being significantly boosted so the 'neutral' sound is definitely not.- There's no play management for the USB input so it will just play whatever is on the USB in a sort-of order. Best not to use nested folders, etc.Things to know about:- It's not a PA amp so best not to expect too much, but it's good at providing a balanced sound that can generally fill a decent sized room.Would love to see a similar size unit with one additional input (like a 3.5mm line in).Overall, it's a great amp. I was pleasantly surprised by the sound.

Amp makes my speakers sound great, but internal DAC is terrible
This amp works very well with my KEF Q150s, and it sounds noticeably better than my previous cheap amp, especially with bass-heavy music. I also love that I can control the bass/treble dials on the fly, I find myself using it rather frequently to make my music sound better when my apartment's noisy heater turns itself on.However, when I used the USB connection my music was choppy, laggy, and filled with clicking sounds. I tried using a separate cheap DAC on the line-in input and it sounded great once again. I was hoping for an all-in-one solution for my desktop speaker setup, so I wanted an amp with a good internal DAC. My recommendation: don't buy this if you are going to use the USB connection.

Way better than expected
I was looking for an inexpensive amp for a second system powering some outstanding NHT speakers. I figured this unit would be marginally better than the AD18 powering my television speakers. What sold me on this amp is the Infineon chip that is used in much higher priced amps. I considered the well reviewed Aiyima A07, but without digital inputs it would need an external dac. The SMSL A12 HAS A usb input meaning an internal dac. Frankly at a $90 price I didn't expect the dac to be very good, so when I hooked my amp up to my system I decided to try the usb port thinking I would eventually use my Soundavo dac into the rca input. As soon as I turned it on I was wowed by the spaciousness, tonal accuracy and solid bass coming from my speakers. Sound signature is natural and dynamic. It sounded so good I decided to try it in my main system powering Elac Debut Reference speakers. These speakers can sound a little bloated but with this little amp they became very resolving with a large sound stage and great instrument separation. The internal dac is surprisingly good, and is probably worth the price on its own. I am amazed you can get such quality sound for so little. Solid five stars. Well done SMSL!Update: I experienced an inability to turn off my amplifier as did another reviewer. It started intermittently at first about a week after purchase, then became permanent. I tried to wiggle the switch left and right and up and down to no avail. I even contacted the seller who did not respond to my inquiry. Then I contacted Amazon to try to get the matter resolved, but got involved we in one long negotiation. I gave up and went back to trying to solve the problem. This time I pushed inward on the switch, feeling a springy reaction from the switch. When it bottomed out I switched it off and it worked! I then switched it back on and normally turned it off successfully. It worked normally several times afterward except one time when I successfully used the technique described above. If you are having this problem I suggest you try this method. This is now a minor inconvenience rather than a deal breaker and the sound from it is still outstanding.

Great little gem
I loved this little beast. It does everything you could expect from an amp at this range of price. Yes, its a Class D amp, and this fact you should always keep in mind. It sounds great, has flat freq response, which can pe adjusted with bass and treble tone controls.Bluetooth connection is good, no complains. As I use my internal near audiophile grade Creative sound card for AUX mode, its obvious, that internal DAC of this amp will be worse and it is worse, but hey, not everyone has good DAC, so the built-in one will satisfy most needs.Amp has almost no hiss, which is a pleasant surprise for me. I can hear noticable hiss only at 4-5 o'clock of volume knob. Thaks for that.It has plenty of power. My diy speakers can hardly handle 1/3 of its power.Power adapter seems to be a good one.Overall all, I'm very satisfied.

Loud volume but high on noise
I used it to drive two 8” inwall speakers. This box support the Mac USB mode. The bass and treble adjusting knob comes in handy. Sound is loud and clear. There is something wrong with my brand new unit. When the treble knob is set to middle or higher, there is audible noise from the speaker. The noise would disappear if the treble is set to low, or if the main volume is set to max.
