I bought this do my shower renovation project, installing a dry pack mortar bed for my slope going under a kerdi shower membrane. The part of this project I was dreading the most was the dry pack. Our shower is large so I needed to mix 10x 55lb bags. I was afraid by the time I hand mixed I would be too worn out to install it. Buckets for hand mixing is not practical. 10 bags is way too much for a wheel barrow and I don’t have a one of those big mixing tubs. This auger mixed the dry pack really fast and easily, allowing me to mix in the driveway and carry it in in buckets. I used a cheap Harbor Freight 1/2 hammer drill/drill combo. I was really worried I would smoke the drill so I bought a mixing drill as a back up. One tip I would recommend is to mix 1/2 bags in two separate buckets, then combine. A whole 55lb bag makes the drill work really hard and get hot, plus you wind up slinging mortar all over outside the bucket. I was able to make it all the way through 10 bags, mixing batches of between 2 and 4 bags at a time (partially to take them up and start packing the bed, partially to let the drill cool down). Surprisingly, I did not burn up my drill! At $75 this would be a must have, no brained tool for this job, even if you’re only gonna use it once. I bought off amazon cause I wanted it fast and wound up paying $120. Still worth it, but with better planning I could have gotten it $50 cheaper if I had planned time for shipping. Overall a great product!

This is an amazing product. It mixes very fast and really easy to use. Much better than hand mixing with a trowel or even mixing with a cement mixer. Takes about 2-3 minutes to mix a 66 lb bag of mortar..and perfectly mixed. Don't bother buying other mixers, spend the extra money and you won't regret it. It's very well made and will last you a very long time. I'm really happy I bought this..it's a big time saver! Tip...when mixing a whole 66 lb mortar or concrete bag use two 5 gallon buckets. Cut the bottom off one bucket and insert it into the other bucket, this way your mixing bucket will be an extra 4-5 inches taller allowing you to mix a whole 30kg (66lb) bag at once. Otherwise you won't be able to mix your whole bag at once because it will spill over. There are videos on youtube that show you how.
