Go Outfitters Apex Camping Shelter/Hammock Tarp

The weight is not what I expected. My scale says the tarp weighs 1.5 lbs or 24 oz , the total kit weight 2.14 lbs or 34.24 oz. I have been able to get the total weight down to 1.82 lbs or 29.12 oz with different stakes and guy lines that I was planning on using anyway but had the tarp weighed the 21 oz that is advertised my total weight would have been 24 oz. maybe I got a chubby tarp, I set it up in the yard with my trekking poles and over all seems like a quality tarp , a few threads were out of sorts but nothing major. Looking forward to how it performs in the rain ..... also the hardest part is getting it back in the bag.Set the tarp up over my mesh tent to test out the set up I plan on using on hikes. Knew the rain was coming so I set one side of the Apex on the ground facing inbound rain and the left the other side up off the ground. It rained modestly early on with no issues, around 0530 the pic I attached rolled in with heavy rain wind and lightening. There was some splash on the tent but nothing came through the mesh or the top of the tarp. I am going to seem seal all the seems to help with the drying out process. Add .5 stars

This shelter tore and became completely useless on the fist camping trip. Very poorly made. Save your money and but a more expensive, high quality one.

I'v used the Apex shelter/tarp for the many family get togethers in my back yard. It offers great shade and protection from the rain. I was impressed by the quality and ease of setting it up. The many tie downs and included stakes and ropes make setting it up an easy and quick process. It includes everything and folds up into a small storage sack. I highly recommend this product!

Excellent tarp for hammock camping and backpacking. Bombproof with many strong tie-downs. Cheaper than comparable ENO tarp, but this one comes with stakes, too. All the tiedowns do add weight, but if you're a gram-shaver, then you should go with a sil tarp and not this one anyway.
