Good quality of book for a great read
Soul stirring right from the beginning to the end..An honest book of a writer and traveller infused with earnestness, empathy and passion for people from all over the world. Unpretentious, real and humbling - Simon Reeves's stories are as real as it can get while he talks of problems surrounding wildlife, governments and the inconceivable plight of people across Kazakhstan, Congo, Somaliland and countless other places which have been long forgotten by the West. His personal experience with depression, his childhood in Acton and his travel journeys are all deeply moving and leaves the reader in deep thought. Totally recommended.

Good insights into new hidden corners of the world
I bought this book for wanting to read about the authors many visits to different corners of the globe. Although, the anecdotes are definitely stirring, i expected more stories i.e. i expected this to be more of a travelogue, but this is part memoir and part travelogue. Still highly recommended.

Incredible!
I’ve loved watching all of Simon Reeve’s programme on BBC, transporting me to these far flung places, many of them I know I would not dare visit. He is such a natural TV presenter. Even although you are watching the programmes through a screen, it feels like he has taken you with him on his journeys. After ever episode I always say I wish I could be like him (knowing that I could never be like him). But to be able to see so much of the world through your own eyes must be truly incredible. So when I found out that he had written a book about his journeys, I had to buy it on the day it was published and managed to finish reading it over a weekend. In my head it was Simon’s voice reading his own book to me. It’s been a while since I’ve finished a book in such a short time. If you like his programmes, you will like this book. The book explains Simon’s childhood and his years of growing up. It really helps you understand how he has become who he is and why he is so good at what he does. I was fearing for his life when he was visiting a Honduras prison but, after reading about all the other people he’s met and things he’s been through, that prison visit must have been pretty mild in comparison.Even though, unlike TV, there are no visual images in a book, his journeys and experiences are so well written you can definitely create your own visualisation of how bleak, amazing, dangerous and beautiful are the places he’s visited . There are fascinating accounts of the interesting and admirable people he’s met on his adventures. Every one of his journeys are an eye-opener.This is my first ever Amazon review. As a fan of Simon I might be slightly biased, but I am a fan for a reason. And yes I do feel very fortunate and lucky to have been where I have been and seen what I have seen in my life so far.

Simon puts you in his shoes with this book. Definitely a must-read.
Love the book! Clear & honest. His writing makes you feel like you're there next to him while the events happened. That itself is a gift for his readers. How he's still alive, God knows. To more years ahead. This world needs much more people like him especially now. This book is meant for anyone and everyone.

Love Simon Reeve - open honest writing
Just like watching his tv series - compelling stories told with compassion, interest, both sides considered and informative about cultures and places I will never have chance to experience. Live vicariously through Simons' travels - what a lovely guy!

GRAB LIFE
The book turned out way different to what I expected - what a fascinating life he's had thus far. Empathetic, adventurous and a brilliant way of sharing his experiences through film and writing. Really enjoyed it.
