The Ministry of Intercession

Do Christians Really Believe in Prayer?
We all know Andrew Murray as the author of With Christ in the School of Prayer. He wrote this as a follow-up, and, though the title may sound like a snoozer, it's a better book than the first. Murray addresses the questions of why we don't pray enough, and why our prayers aren't answered. He brings forth examples of ministry leaders who are too busy to pray. The fact is that we work harder than we pray, and we resort to prayer primarily when we feel nothing else can be done, e.g. terminal illnesses. His point is that we must immerse ourselves in the reality of Christ and His Kingdom if we are to really believe that prayer is worth our time. Secondly, unless we are growing into a mindedness like God's, our prayers will not be in line with His intended purposes. For example, we are to be praying for spiritual blessings in all our intercessions. As long as we are praying primarily for physical or material blessings, that is,changes in circumstances, we won't be in line with God's purposes for ourselve and others in the circumstances we're in. How do we get in line? Murray discusses what it means to abide in Christ, what it means that Christ is our life. When we get this right, then we'll pray aright and it will be no burden. And that's just the beginning. There are a lot of books on prayer out there, and I've read plenty of them. This one's in the top 5. Also, it's a thin book, non-daunting, and will be one you'll want to read every year or so.

Intensively Reflective
This book is not an easy read. The author fills each page with thought provoking material. I found myself having to set the book down every other page or so to process the information.A great book for anyone seeking to become a prayer warrior who desires to intercede for others through prayer.Additonally, importunity in prayer is a subject not often taught from the pulpit, in my experience. The author gives important insights into this arena of prayer exercise. God wants us to wrestle with Him.Besides the content, the book arrived in good condition in a timely fashion. Highly recommended reading for anyone looking to improve the quality of their prayers.

This is a great book that should be for read by anyone pursuing Christ and becoming like Him. I found out about it from reading a Francis Frangipane book and felt led to read it for myself. Sorry it took me so long to find out about it! It is a foundation on prayer for all believers, especially useful for those with the gift/office of intercession; but we are ALL called to intercede! I always knew I and others were selling "prayer/intercession" short, as a last resort "Well, all I can do is pray now."???? We GET to pray and it should be the FIRST thing we do, not last!!! Awesome book to awaken the power of prayer in you!

Great encouraging
Points out the roadblocks that get our prayers "clogged up in the pipeline" so to speak. Good hard hitting self-examination emphasis.

I was led to this book
This is my calling, for intercessory prayer. If you would, pray for me, that I would be filled with the spirit, to give myself over to praying for others.

The Wake Up Cry
In this book lies the cry of God to His Church, though written over a century ago, this cry is still as piercing as the day this book was written and shall be till the Saviour returns. Andrew Murray opens the bleeding desire of the Saviour to His bride, for we are lost in the wilderness of self and the world and maybe this cry will help our hearts find home. Every Christian ought to read this book for the truths in it are eternal!
