This is a great tracker, it's has UWB support meaning it's better then the Bluetooth only variants. What's UWB? Basically, if you lose your item connected to a smart tag any Samsung UWB enabled device can pick it up. UWB essentially uses crowd sourced location reporting other bluetooth only devices cannot do this meaning you only get an out of range notification. Some people are using smart tags in there cars as a cheaper vehicle tracker alternative although it's not full proof as it relies on someone with a compatible Samsung device walking past the tag. Samsung have a great ugumented function where you can use your phone camera in realise to locate you Smart Tag. It's not rechargeable but I have not yet seen a tag with this funcionality. The battery (CR2032) lasts approx 100-130 days. Note: At the time of writing this review, Google has not launched their find-me tag support and it's unclear if Samsung tags will supported in that solution.

I bought a two-pack of these a while ago on a whim, just to see if they were any good. It wasn't clear from anything I read whether they could only be found by phones belonging to other SmartTag users (kind of like Tile, which I have also tried) or by _any_ Samsung Galaxy phone (kind of like Airtags, which can ping off any nearby iPhone). It turns out that it is the first one, which makes them really excellent. There is a bit of a story that prompted me to write this review. I had been carrying one of these in my pocket for weeks, intended to attach it to my bicycle (but never remembering to do so). A few days ago, I noticed it missing. I don't know how long it had been missing, but I figured it was around the house somewhere. Thing is, the "nearby search" (which uses Bluetooth) couldn't find it in the house. So I set it to notify when it was next seen. A few minutes later, it was spotted, apparently 5 minutes walk away from my house. I figured that couldn't be right and ignored it. I tried the same thing the following day and got the same result. So I walked to the spot where it was reported and turned on "nearby search" and - sure enough - the missing tag was reported to be nearby. Then I turned on the audible alarm and could hear it. Within two minutes, I found it lying in a grass verge where I would never have found it. It must have fallen out of my pocket some time before. The location history tells me that I lost it around a week ago. We have had some nasty weather (heavy rain, cold nights) since then but it survived it all and works well. They aren't as elegant-looking as the Apple equivalent, but they do seem to work every bit as well. Unlike the Tile, you don't need to pay a monthly fee to have location history (although you do need to have a Samsung phone to track them).

Look you have probably read some of the reviews here and are a bit sceptical. First of all let me make it clear that if you have a phone that isn't a Samsung, or even a Samsung that is running android 7 or below. This smart tag straight up isn't going to work for you. However if you have a newish Samsung then here is what you an expect. The Tag is a great little item for tracking lost things around the house or in a small area, reliably. It has a mini speaker that van produce a decent amount of noise for easily tracking down the tag. If it a very loud area I believe it would make it very hard to find. The navigation on the Smartthings app, which you need to actually use the tag. Is alright, I feel like on the latest Samsung phones it works great and smooth no problem. But when you get to slightly older phones, from experience s9 or below. You're going to have a sluggish response to navigating around the app. So on the app you can set up the tag to find device which basically means if you click the button on the tag a certain way, for example long press the button, it will ring your phone which is great for the situations where you have your keys but lost your phone for example. You can also set up control devices which basically allows you, if you have set up your smart home bulbs, plugs ect to the smartthings app, to control said devices with the touch of a button. This feature for me was the most useful, I can press the button on my keys to turn on the fan in my room before I get home. The this also a section in the smartthings app that basically allows you to track your tag. Sounds great on paper, most people assume when buying this item that this functionality is going to work out the gate. If you go back to the second paragraph and you meet the credentials then you will have the feature but for everyone else you will not. The Tag feeds back its location data to the app when it is close proximity to OTHER SAMSUNG PHONES. You could put the tag in your luggage but just know that if it does get lost of none of the people who are handling your case have a Samsung phone. Then you aren't going to see where it is. Annoying for sure but Samsung still hold a pretty big margin of the market so its always a risk. There is also a feature like geo tracking but this can only be used on the Tag+ version. Haven't got one myself but would just make things a bit easier. Sum it all up, if you are just going to throw this tag on your keys or behind your wallet I believe you won't have much trouble finding it in a quick pinch. If however you are planning to use this tag to potentially track down your stolen bike. Then you are risking a chance that it may work or it may not work at all.

Brilliant bit of kit

Ich persönlich bin mit dem Galaxy SmartTag+ sehr zufrieden. Tut was er soll und ich hatte auch mit der Batterie keine Probleme, wie hier öfter beschrieben. Die Frage ob sich die Preisdifferenz zum "normalen" SmartTag ohne + lohnt, kann ich noch nicht beantworten. Ich habe beide in Betrieb, einen an meinem Schlüsselbund und einen in meinem Bike-Rucksack, auf Radtouren erhalten beide gleich viele Pings von anderen Samsung-Nutzern, das Orten selbst habe ich noch nicht ausprobiert. Was man erwähnen sollte: die zahlreichen auf Amazon angebtotenen Schutzhüllen(die SmartTags sind sehr anfällig für Kratzer) sind meist ausschließlich für den normalen SmartTag, der SmartTag+ ist geringfügig größer und die Neopren-Hülle daher einen Ticken zu klein - verwenden kann man sie aber trotzdem, wenn man ein wenig an der Hülle herumzieht. Kurzes Update nach 10 Wochen Nutzung: der SmartTag+ läuft noch immer mit der mitgeliferten Batterie(zu zwei Dritteln voll), verbraucht im Vergleich zum normalen SmartTag zwar mehr, aber das finde ich persönlich vernachlässigbar. Die Ortungsfunktion des SmartTag+ ist gut durchdacht und zeigt den Standort im Vergleich zum SmartTag genauer an, man findet allerdings beide. Was beim SmartTag+ defintiv besser funktioniert, ist die Benachrichtigung auf dem Smartphone, wenn er sich nicht mehr in der Nähe befindet. Ist der SmartTag+ außer Reichweite des Telefons, bekommt man zuverlässig umgehend und jedes Mal eine Nachricht, während die Nachrichten beim normalen SmartTag nur sporadisch aufpoppen. Bisher gibt es von meiner Seite also noch keinen Grund zu meckern.

Lo probé en una viaje largo con trasbordos y funcionó bien; por suerte la maleta nunca se extravió pero lo probé en varias oportunidades y me daba la ubicación, indicándome que estaba en el aeropuerto o en la zona en la que debía estar. Puntos a destacar: primero, es muy fácil de encender y sincronizar con el tlf la primera vez. La app es friendly. Debe estar sincronizado con el teléfono samsung; en mi caso con un S8 funcionó perfectamente. Debe estar conectado al Internet para funcionar (detalle importante si estás en un viaje internacional sin datos de internet). Siempre que tuve acceso a Internet hice prueba tratando de localizar la maleta y en todas las oportunidades captaba la señal por tener algún tlf samsung cercano (no se si en otros lugares sea más difícil pero se ve que en los aeropuertos es fácil que hayan tlf samsung disponibles cercanos). Como no estoy de viaje eternamente, ahora lo usaré con las llaves de casa. En fin, se puede vivir sin él pero por el precio, me parece útil; lo compraría de nuevo.

Nous les avons utilisé à plusieurs reprises pour voyager et dernièrement lors d'une escale pendant un voyage nous nous avons pu constater que nos Smart Tag chacune disposés dans nos bagages en soute, ont pu être localisés indiquant que nos bagages nous avaient bien suivis, c'est vraiment rassurant ! Ils sont tops ! La seule contrainte étant de disposer d'un smartphone Samsung...

Lo llevo en la maleta y la verdad es que funciona muy bien dentro del ecosistema Samsung. Hasta ahora me la ha detectado sin problemas en varios vuelos internacionales tanto en el aeropuerto de origen como en el de destino y además con bastante precisión. Para lo que lo estoy usando, muy útil. Inconvenientes: la pila que trae no dura nada. O le ponen una pila barata, o lo tienen años en el almacén o es de segunda mano (no lo parece, la verdad).
