Superbly Written
First, I’d like to mention that just about all of the negative reviews were written after the infamous Oscar slap. Most, if not all gave no honest account of the memoir at all. I highly recommend ignoring them all, because the book was a biographical masterpiece. Oprah didn’t say it was the best memoir she’d ever read for nothing. It really is that good. I was so impressed with Will’s impeccable ability to illustrate all of the events of his life with such humor, insightfulness and vivid detail. He is a masterful storyteller, and his command of the English language in creating a visual for the reader is truly impressive. Will is so vulnerable and authentic, and really put his heart out there for the world to either embrace or crush. After reading, I believe his thoughts about how he believes he failed all the women in his life is quite likely what lead to that slap. It’s clear that he suffers from some insecurities that he’s tried to overcompensate for with his almost picture perfect career in entertainment. The world needs to just give this man a little grace and stop with the continued moral lynching. I enjoyed every page, and although it’s well over 400 pages, it was so well written and flowed like the best poetry. If you’re a real Will Smith fan or just someone who understands good people sometimes do things they aren’t proud of, you’re in for such a treat in this memoir. Relax and enjoy.

It was okay
I bought the audio version. While is was interesting to hear it read in his own voice, it wasn't all that interesting until later when Will went through some major life changes.Listener beware. I had falled asleep listening to the book and woke up with a start hearing a curse bomb yelled in my ear. As my heart began to slow down, it happened again. I'm not a fuddyduddy, but if there are people around who shouldn't be hearing something like that, be sure you use earphones.Overall, it was okay, but a bit draggy for me.

The Fresh Prince became King when him and DJ Jazzy Jeff won first Grammy for rapping!!!!!!
I was actually pretty disappointed that it ended. I could hardly stop reading for 2 days. I have seen every episode of The Fresh Prince, and until reading the book, I always wondered how he got that name. This book shows the beautiful, genuine, and humanness of my favorite actor, Mr. Will Smith. Huge star, with personality plus. And duh, let us just say sexy, sexy, and sexy. The way he opened up about some pretty intimate things really touched me. Tear jerker in spots. And I have to say, guess it is not surprising that it is a bad ass book, seeing how he is one of The bad boys. You get to know him a little bit. And I found myself wanting to reach in the book and hold and comfort him. Awesome dad. And husband. And person. And when he went and had experience drinking that therapeutic tea, was awesome, and I could not stop crying when he got to see and experience his inner beauty as a human, that only adds to his outside beauty. Making Will Smith the Sexiest Man EVER. Love his humor, and heart. And when he was talking bout the harem to his Doc, well of course I was the first to raise my hand and yell I volunteer. Anyway, was quite interesting the way she explained a little bit. Which was actually pretty deep, and not really at all what thought, which was cool.

Love Mark! Love Will! Had to read it!
I have read both of Marks books, hardbound no less, and found them hilarious! I am also on the receiving end of his M.F. Monday inspirational emails. Also hilarious, and informative!I have enjoyed watching Will go from the youth of D.J. Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince to an action hero saving the world! He has always been exceptionally gifted and this book is just another example of his vast artistic talents.I have never really been interested in famous people's personal lives. I don't think it is anyone's business what anyone else does when they go home after work. I found this felt more like a biographical story of Will's career accomplishments, which is the part of actor's lives that we should care about, with a bit of personal info for background stage setting for each story.

A New Understanding of Will - And Maybe Yourself
I am a big fan of biographical works and of both Mark Manson and Will Smith; and yet, this book leaves me feeling bittersweet. Will Smith has spent decades in our most beloved cultural works: Fresh Prince, Hitch, I Am Legend, Bad Boys, and Big Willie style to name a few. In many ways the thing we loved most about him wasn't his incredible catalog of work, but the "effortless" charisma that allowed him to take over the world. This book cuts directly against that image. This book amounts to look behind the curtain of what made this icon who he is, warts and all. While it is incredibly insightful and well written - those of us who liked having him up on a pedestal for being superhuman will realize that he is imperfect like us all. What you get in this book is life experiences from Will wrapped around singular ideas like "fear", "Power" and "Hope" and he uses those themes and stories to teach us lessons about life. This book left me with a new understanding of Will and myself - in my opinion, that's all a great biographical works should do.

Very interesting
It was very interesting to read about Will’s early beginnings. He includes his upbringing, business friendships, celebrity encounters and family life. I just wished the ending wouldn’t have come so soon. I felt there could have been more said to make it complete.

ILLUMINATING
Like it or not, it's story goes from the very bottom to the very top, and the other way around. Things not everyone might want to hear.
