Paul Bunyan Swings His Axe Paperback – January 1, 1936

My dad read me this book before bed when I was a kid all the time. The book is in amazing condition and brings back so many amazing memories.

Always a great story. Print is large and Paul Bunyan captures the imagination. The ultimate "super hero" with Babe the blue ox! Bigger than life! We bought to read to a young man, with one chapter per night.

My grandson had a book report to do on the theme of tall tales, and this was actually the first book I thought of. I read it when I was his age (9) and it was this book that instilled a lifelong love of American legends and tall tales. I have to admit I read it again as soon as it arrived, and even at my age I enjoyed it as much as I did when I was a wee sprout...and, I'm pleased to say, my grandson loved it too...so much that he asked me to order the companion volume. That says a lot, that this book still holds up so very well. I highly recommend it for all young and young-at-heart.

I grew up with this book, so the contents has warm & fond memories. Depending on the range of literature parents introduce/use with their children, will depend on the child's receptivity. It's an "Old School", classic presentation ... no flashy colors, no special affect yarns ... just flight of fancy. My daughter enjoyed it 20 years ago, perhaps future grandchild will appreciate it as well. If not ... I can have it ALL to my self. :O)

These are the really fun stories in a family-storytelling style. Great for reading aloud and laughing together at the hilarious situations. Even early elementary age children will find these charcters endearing and full of personality.

What a fun book about this imaginary person. Bought for our 4-year old grandson who became interested after we had to remove a large tree in the front yard and introduced him to the legend of Paul Bunyan. Delightful illustrations.

Great book for nostalgic stories, has a good vintage look/feel to it

I did a bunch of research about the possible Paul Bunyan stories. This one is well written, hilarious, compelling, and with wonderful illustrations. Best one!!
