Okay...but obviously different
I had two of these given to me many years ago and have gotten a lot of good use out of them. I am not sure why, but I never tried to purchase more of them until now. Not surprisingly, they are no longer easy to find.As usual, I was able to find them on Amazon...or so I thought. The ones I received today are not the same as my old ones, and are obviously an inferior product. Instead of being smoothly rounded on the bottom, they have a circle on which the bowl rests. The circle is rougher than it should be (although not horribly so). The old bowls say "Corning NY USA", but these specifically say made in China - and it shows. These don't have the "grab it" name on them, either. They are not worth the price I paid (at least to me) and I will likely return them as I just can't imagine I will enjoy using them as much as I do my old ones. I know it sounds silly, but the quality just isn't there. I gave them three stars because they do seem serviceable and if I didn't already have the originals, it is possible that I wouldn't necessarily dislike these. They are pretty heavy and may actually weigh more than the old ones. These do have a lid - my old ones don't - or if they did, I lost them long ago. I found the lid a bit hard to get off - but they are new, so maybe they would get a bit easier to removewith time. I have other bowls with lids that I use for storage. I want these for soups, stews, and chili - or rather, I want more like my old ones...

Totally interchangable with the old ones
I had 2 of the old Grab-its for MANY years. I use them a LOT for reheating things and making casseroles etc. for one in both microwave and toaster oven. Then I dropped one while I was washing it...So glad to find them here on Amazon (is there anything they don't sell?!?).The old bowls are Corning, these say made in China. The bottom is a bit different.I'm so happy that the old glass lids and the plastic covers work on the old and the new ones!I'll probably buy another one w/ my next Amazon order. If the lids were clear so I could see what's inside, I'd buy a few more.Found one negative to the new design - I can't slide my big metal spatula under it when it's in the toaster over (where I use these quite often).

Covered Corning Spread Containers Steal the Show
We had bought two of these serving dishes many years ago. I enjoy using them on and off, especially to present fancy cheese spreads at cocktail parties at home and away. This summer I brought them on ice up to Door County WI where we were visiting a lake home, fully loaded with two different spreads. Both the containers and the spreads proved to be big hits. The hostess particularly admired the Corning Ware so I decided to try to find them for her. Somewhat to my surprise they were easily located on Amazon.com and promptly shipped to me in St. Louis via amazon prime. She greatly appreciated my thank you gifts and probably has put them to use this week back up in Door with some more visiting friends.ED

Let other buyers beware
This "CorningWare" is in name only and is not the genuine original ceramic-glass item invented by Corning, the New York manufacturer. It is actually a version of ceramic called stoneware and is therefore substantially heavier and not as tough ounce for ounce. It is a brownish clay product that was glazed white and sized to look like the original. Apparently the new company bought the naming rights from the NY company and is selling a look-alike product. I realize that the Amazon description did mention that is is stoneware, but most of us who are not into the technical aspects of ceramics would probably have overlooked that one word, in our rush to get a replacement for a broken original. It seems to be an expensive Chinese ceramic bowl which just happened to have the name "CorningWare" stamped on it.

New kitchen favorite
I bought a Grab It on a whim many years ago but just recently used it for the first time seeking an alternative to plastic containers. I found the size ideal for storage and re-heating and liked it so much I ordered two more. Compared to Pyrex bowls the lids of these Grab Its stay on in the microwave. My warmed up leftovers have never tasted more moist.I have a number of CorningWare products both new and old and find them all of good quality and well made. The handle of this tends to heat up so you need to use a hot pad and know that the the lid will stain. But the durability and usefulness of the Grab It totally makes it a worthwhile investment. I love these.

Love these versatile bowls
We had a set of two of these bowls YEARS AGO. When my husband saw them on Amazon, he had to get them. Liked the old ones better because the lids were clear -- you could see what was in the bowl without taking the lid off. The lids on the new bowls are opaque and a little tight to get on and off. But a minor complaint. Like these bowls because they can go in the frig, the microwave, and the oven. And they don't get too hot to handle in the microwave.

Does what is intended
Easy to store leftovers in frig then heat in microwave or conventional oven. These are slightly different ceramic which is a bit heavier than the ones I had 20 yrs ago. The grab it handle makes it easy to hold onto and protects fingers from heat. It will get hot if used in oven. Even so you have something to hold onto. Lid fits very tightly for storage. When heating something in microwave I either remove the lid or loosen it.

OK, BUT not like the original item from years ago made by Corning.
I have two of these for years. Use them on the range top, microwave, oven, fridge, freezer. Was a little disappointed when these arrived thinking they were the same exact item, grab-it, but the ones that came are clearly labeled on the bottom, NOT FOR RANGE TOP USE. This is the newer, cheaper version from china, not like the originals. They are, supposedly, according to the marking on the bottom, good for the oven and microwave. We will keep them, but just be aware if you have the older version, these are not quite the same.

These dishes are wonderful but they are way too expensive I bought my original ones for under $10.00 each with the lids, mind you that was twenty years ago.

Grab it bowls
I chose this rating as I got exactly what I wanted. I have been looking for more of these bowls for several years, and finally found them. We love to use them for our daily soup at lunch. They arrived in a timely manner.
