Works Great!
Really a great thermometer. Accurate & easy to use. The only thing I wish was different is the size of the top of it, a larger diameter for a little easier reading. Overall, very please & would recommend.

Considering how often these get mangled by mistake in garbage disposal, a nice cheap, functional food therm is preferable. I've worked decades in kitchens and this works just fine (battery instant read are a waste of money IMO). For those of you new to these thermometers, make sure you calibrate in cup of crushed ice water when new and periodically after. Use covered cup like a foam coffee cup - let it sit for a minute stirring occasionally - while holding dial head, turn hex nut with pliers so dial reads 32 degrees F. My order was correct and on time.

Taylor Meat Thermometer
This small economical meat thermometer does a good job checking that meat has reached a safe temperature or when cooking beef, the desired level of doneness. The dial is just 1 inch in diameter but although small is magnified to aid in seeing the numbers. The thermometer is not oven safe and should not be left in the meat while cooking. It is used to periodically check the meat during cooking. Also, to clean I usually wipe the stem with a warm soapy cloth and rinse well but it should not be submerged.

My favorite meat thermometer
My most accurate meat thermometer even vs digital.

Very similar to digital in low range
Had these before, but this one has a magnifying cover over the dial which makes very easy to read. Was having issues with my electric furnace and when the service tech showed up he said he had digital thermometer he preferred to use in his service truck. My dial thermometer was reading about 60 F. He removed my thermometer and inserted his digital. The digital unit measured 59.5 F. Not sure this accuracy is linear over the entire measurement range, but absolutely worked well in the lower range and for my use.

PERFECT MEAT THERMOMETER
After a lifetime of broiling steaks, i decided to try a cast iron grill pan. The only thing was that i had no idea of timing for a 1-inch thick filet and was certain that I didn't want to cut into it. The TAYLOR 3513 PRECISION MEAT THERMOMETER IS THE PERFECT TOOL FOR COOKING STEAK. I used BETTY CROCKER'S instructions for MEDIUM-RARE DONENESS and removed the heat at 120°. Just as Betty described, the meat contnued to cook to 140° internal temperature while I finished setting up the sides and condiments. Using the TAYLOR THERMOMETER, my steaks were cooked to perfection: dark grill marks on the outside and dark pink on the inside. When I cut into it, the steak nearly burst with its juices. I highly recommend it.

WORST!
How many reasons would you like for why you should not buy this product? Most importantly the temperature is inaccurate. I used a working thermometer, and this one, in hot water and the first measurement was 50° off. When I made the water a bit deeper it was 20° off, the closest it got to being the same as the working thermometer was 10° off. Before I even did the temperature test I knew I wanted to return it because the dial is so tiny it's very difficult to read. When I put in for my return Amazon responded by telling me I didn't even need to return it, which I really appreciated. Then I thought maybe somebody with Better Eyes could read it so I tested it and found the above results.I thought the hole through the case was an interesting feature, but when I went to try that the thermometer did not even fit through the hole!So the only thing left to discuss is the packaging which was terrible! It was extremely difficult to get the thermometer off the cardboard.Taylor thermometers have lost my trust!Taylor -4/10Amazon 10/10
