Good NVR for Home or Small Business, Setup Could Be Easier
I've had this Hikvison NVR running for about three weeks, and so far I'm very happy with it (4-1/2 stars happy). I used the iVMS-4200 app to initially configure it. Frankly, it's a little confusing setting these up - and I've done this a few times. First you setup the network info, then you activate the device, and add it to your list of managed devices. The interface for the iVMS-4200 app is just confusing, but once you get the hang of it, it's easier. For storage, I've added a WD Purple 6 TB hard drive, which seems to work just fine. I plan to add a second after I add more cameras. For cameras, I've added a 2.8mm lens Hikvision turrent-style camera. These are the kind without a glass dome, and they are much less conspicuous than the dome variety. I configured the camera to only record when it detects motion, which really saves on disk space, and makes searching for events easier. After initial setup, I did some customization. For example, I setup e-mail alerts for when a camera stops working, or an illegal login happens. I use a Gmail account for this, and it is possible to get Gmail working with TLS security, if you follow these instructions that I found on the interwebs:Get Gmail Working in Hikvision:1. Open iVMS-4200, navigate to Device Management, Remote Configuration, Event, Email2. User Name: email address WITHOUT @gmail.com3. Password: your Gmail password4. SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com5. Port: 5876. E-mail Encryption: SSLThen setup a destination e-mail address and test it - it should work. Note that port 587 is for TLS, even though you check the box for SSL. TLS is more secure than SSL.So to re-cap, this is a good NVR with many useful features, it could be easier to setup, but if you are OK with entering IP addresses and default gateways, then you'll be fine.

Great service
Purchased Hikvision NVR. Delivered very quickly as described. There was a small issue which the seller resolved quickly. They responded to all messages very quickly. Great after sales service. Very happy

after less than 2 weeks of use system randomly stops recording. Useless.
Purchased this with WD Purple 6tb drive as recommended. Configured 11 Hikvision cameras and ran for two weeks recording motion. Now system will record 12 to 18 hours then just stops recording anything. I can view all cameras through live view but only way to get recording to restart is to reboot the system. I have repeated this 5 times now. I have completely reset the system back to full default and instead of running all 11 cameras just ran two but still the system randomly stops recording. Does not freeze up, just stops recording, making the system useless. The logs do not tell me anything and there is no documentation available to help determine what much of the log entries means. Need to return this.Update 9/26/2017 although I contacted and exchanged several emails with the reseller they offered no solution and have not agreed to just take back the unit. I did however find they sold me an international version unit. There are different versions of the firmware out there including a newer version of international on the Hikvision Europe website. I was able to upgrade but no fix. Decided to try the firmware available on the US site. Even though this is an international version (they did not disclose this at time of purchase) the US firmware will run apparently. All of my Hikvision cameras are US/English and run latest firmware. It would help if the resellers would be more forthcoming and disclose the target market for the firmware. But these are essentially gray market items so buyer beware. My experience indicates there is an issue with the international firmware working with US/English based Hikvision cameras (I am running 11 Hikvision cameras. My review stays at 1 star due to the total lack of support from the reseller based on my email exchange they have little understanding and just want to sell you an NVR.

Chinese version (not USA). Loud fans. China based company on invoice.
The NVR (DS-7616NI-I2/16P) is a Hong Kong serial number (not USA as advertised). The unit works and is in English however. The box seems normal (not white plain), but it did not have a Hikvision security seal, so it may or may not have been opened / tampered with by the seller or anyone on itās way to me. The NVR updated itself to firmware version 4.5. The invoice from DH-Tech AU shows the company as being based in China, and the invoice probably isnāt usable for GST claims. My unit arrived slightly āwarpedā where it would not sit flat on a bench and rock on itās feet, however some careful opposite force over my knee remedied this. The fans in this NVR are very loud, keep this in mind if itās anywhere near bedrooms (can easily be heard from another room). Thereās videos online of people swapping the fans to relieve this issue, but this may void warranty. Iām running a single WD Purple Pro 10TB HDD no issues. It works fine with the latest Acusense ColorVu DS-2CD2087G2-L cameras, although the white light based options, such as auto white light or on motion event linkage is only accessible via the camera config (the NVR doesnāt offer the config options). Camera modes such as back light / low light etc are also not available unless you configure them on the camera directly (not able to be set via the NVR). Hik-Connect works on iOS no worries, although it seemed to cause my iPhone to become glitchy even when not using the app. I might be paranoid, but find it slightly suspect. The NVR does not have any of itās own Acusense functionality, you must use Acusense cameras (whose functions are supported). So it will log and respond to smart events from your camera, but you cannot augment a non Acusense camera with Acusense capability with this NVR. Smart functions such as number plate recognition, all depend on the camera. Facial recognition functions and alerts are not built into this NVR unless the camera handles the function itself (no DeepInMind capability). Overall itās a decent unit, but the fans might be a real dealbreaker for some. I would also guess the typical 3 year warranty might be hard to claim with this seller, time will tell I suppose.Edit: the NVR has issues where recordings miss several seconds around events, and playback is not possible via browser. Carefully configured settings donāt seem to fix Seller has used TeamViewer to try and get playback working but failed. Wants me to return it to China at an $84 cost. Also came with a non compliant IEC power cable where the prongs do not have protective sleeves.

Works great
I bought this NVR to replace an older 6 year old hybrid DVR/NVR I have. I have new Ezviz cameras which connect seemlessly to the new NVR (I set them with static IP addresses). I don't have any cameras connected to the NVR via POE (as yet). I have some other IP cameras from different vendors such Reolink and Foscam which I was able to easily connect using ONVIF. So I can view and record from all my different cameras regardless of brand. So far I am very pleased with my purchase.
