2006 BMW 530xi Sedan E60. Only needed a needle nose plier to remove retainer clip for this easy installation. Took 5 minutes. Fit perfectly snug. Tested and operated with excellent results. This one opens quickly until halfway point, then slow and smooth the rest of way. Opens full.

Very similar to original BMW. mount holes 0.5mm smaller than original, made for tight fit. original may be worn. used a little lithium grease to aid installation. works well, trunk is now smooth when opened. There is a slight squeeking when moved - due to foam rubbing on spring I think. could just be the spring. read reports this chinese model quits working in short order. They all seem to be from same manufacturer, just different vendor. price varies based on "warranty". time will tell if it holds up.

I've had my E60 for a long time. I guess I had forgotten how smooth the trunk used to open 10 years ago. I had just gotten used to it flying open with the force of a trebuchet and thought that was normal. Until one day when I was reading online where someone was complaining about their trunk flying open way too fast and banging against the trunk lid stop. I realized my car was doing the same thing. Found this spring and shock, by all accounts it a suitable replacement. Installation was a bit tougher than I was expecting, took a bit a wrestling to get it in but not terribly difficult. OMG what an idiot I've been living without this! It's like a new car. I now something just open my trunk to enjoy how buttery smooth it opens. Best $49.99 I've ever spent. I should have done this years ago.

06 530i worked for me. No more worrying about the back window getting smashed when popping the trunk. Easy to install
