Cooking with Grandma Gina Paperback – May 21, 2021

Very, very nice cookbook! It is easy to follow even with the most difficult recipe. My husband is Italian, and he loves making and eating Gina's recipes!

I love watching Grandma Gina’s videos. I feel like I’m watching and listening to my Nonna.The recipes are authentically Italian. They are the foods that I grew up with. I always asked my Nonna for her recipes and never got exact measurements. She would tell me a handafull of this and a handafull of that. I always laughed and asked whose hand?This book makes me so happy and helps me add the proper amounts of ingredients to replicate some of my most favorite foods.Molte Grazie to Grandma Gina, who gave us this gift! Gina Petitti is a gift to all who have the privilege of watching her YouTube channel. My sister Gloria insisted I watch her claiming that "Gina reminds me of Mommy and our Aunts and all the food they made." I finally tuned in and I must say, my sister was not mistaken.I received her fabulous cookbook, "Cooking with Grandma Gina," and cannot wait to try some of these recipes. Her recipes are simple and uncomplicated, and far surpass (in my opinion) the all too detailed recipes of a refined chef. Why? Because she cooks from the heart - her recipes are rustic and deeply rooted in her family tradition (she is originally from Faeto, Italy), and deeply rooted in LOVE. These recipes are designed to teach you how to put a lot of love into feeding one's family and others. Cooking as service. This is why her recipes, in many cases, produce larger quantities - evidence that the recipes are never a self-indulgent quest (although what can be better than hearing the first words of Gina after she bites into something she's made ... "mmm so good!")I am so grateful for this book as it captures so many recipes I loved as a little boy. Gina may not be aware of this, but God has used her deep faith in Christ and the Madonna to bring people (like me) joy and comfort during Covid. Her singing, devotion, cooking, family, etc., were all used for the greater glory of God -- to bring a smile to someone's face, to bring hope, or to give someone a recipe to try during lockdown - that is why her channel has taken off. I am grateful for this wonderful cookbook that covers the gamut for us Italian-Americans, grateful for Gina and her loving family, and blessed that Gina has given me the opportunity to create the flavors I was raised with. I can't bring back momma and papa, but food is an important part of the Italian tradition and through the love of a well-made meal, we return in our hearts to "la tavola" where family meets and love endures. Grazie di cuore, Gina e famiglia!!

This book is one of the best formatted cookbooks. A few pics, some background history, picture of food recipe, larger print, and good table of contents with foods divided into categories. It gets to point of showing recipes immediately without having to read a ton of nonsense material as some cookbooks have. I have watched Gina for many years and have learned much from her videos. My only complaint is that many of the recipes make a large quantity, and it would have been nice to see recipes which showed in ( ) an amount that would result in smaller portions. So, I do the math and halve (or more ) the recipes to fit my needs, and the food come out very delicious.

Gina is a YOUTUBE star. That’s where I first discovered her. What a gem! She’s a fantastic cook, has that special grandmother personality and is so gracious for giving us her recipes. You’ll love this fantastic cookbook and you need to watch her make these recipes on her YouTube channel, “Buon-A-Petitti”. You’ll miss your grandmother if you’re not still blessed to have her and you’ll want to take Gina home with you!

Ever since I stumbled upon Buon-A -Petitti on U-tube, I have been totally captivated and hooked! Grandma Gina is a CHARMING, SINCERE, joyful and gentle soul, who is an AUTHENTIC old country- dare I say organic? no, a REAL ITALIAN- chef who shares not only fantastic HEALTHY HOMEMADE recipes using only the freshest, often home-grown ingredients; but who also has such a knack/ skill in preparing the meals, Her care and manner of preparing the dishes is, to me, artistic; in how she senses the texture and develps the flavors of the ingredients; is extremely patient, and doesn't rush the cooking- which again brings out the flavors and textures of the ingredients instead of overcooking them into an overheated blob; and takes great care to present beautiful, visually- appealing meals. The cookbook faithfully presents the recipes demonstrated by Grandma Gina on the U tube videos; and has lovely color pictures of the dishes and many of the preparation steps. For me, it has been a delightful education to have learned so much from the U tube videos; and now that the recipes have been collated in this book. I CAN"T WAIT to try them! SO THANK YOU dear Nonna Gina...God bless you and your wonderful family!
