Disappointed
I am a allopathic physician who has study integrative Medicine and transitioning to functional medicine. I wanted to get a stronger fundamental understanding of dysbiosis and immune function. There are very few true functional med books , and Alex Vasquez kept coming up. I purchased this , prior to investing nearly $200 in the complete text.First let me say I think the author knows a lot , but if it can’t be organized in a clear, concise, methodological fashion, then the information is not helpful. The author comes off exactly as he is someone who has spent way too much time training and studying and not enough translating this to clinical practice.I found the book to wordy, too much philosophical jargon. Too much is spent on the author’s opinion, history and favorite quotes before getting to the meat and potatoes. His writing comes off disorganized, as if he knows so much but not able to put the information in a concise, strategic manner.I don’t doubt his knowledge but the books comes off exactly as what the author is someone who has spent a lot of time studying but has not translated to practice. For example , Holistically treating hypertension can be done with DASH diet, recommend exercise, relaxation techniques, increasing magnesium and potassium, but you have to read to endless pages to get through some of these recommendations.Unfortunately, when you look up previews of his other books it shows the same one , so I have no way of knowing if his other books are any different. It also doesn’t help, he is selling the same info in different sections. This comes off more as a gimmick.

Helpful
A lot of good information. It is just hard to read. It feels very disjointed in appearance but it does make sense and is meant to be read from cover to cover. Despite this, the information has been helpful though.

Same book different book
This is an verbatim excerpt from his book, Inflammation Mastery. It is just the chapters from that part of the book. I gave it 3 stars because the information is great but if you already have the original text it’s a waste of time and money to purchase. This is not explained in the information about this book.
