Quick Fix, Quiet Performance, Great Value
This was a lifesaver! Installation was super easy—even for someone with minimal plumbing experience. Clear instructions, all the parts included, and it fit my toilet perfectly. Once installed, it filled the tank quickly and much more quietly than the old valve. The adjustable settings are a great bonus for fine-tuning water levels and saving water. Solid quality at a very reasonable price.

Great kit and easy to instal
This kit for the toilet is really great and super easy to instal. Also it has a much better sealing system on the bottom of the tank such that it allows the valve to close properly every time with no leaking at all. The valve is also adjustable in that you can adjust just how much water you want in the tank before flushing it. It’s also very easy to adjust for pretty much any tank size and has other adjustments you normally don’t get with other units. It took me all of 15 minutes to instal the whole thing and I was done. If you want that great feel when you push down on the flush handle then don’t leave hardly any slack in the chain between the flush lever and the flush valve itself. Don’t over do it and leave no slack at all because it may cause some leaking with the toilet flushing itself from time to time. The valve needs enough room to fully seat itself. It’s very intuitive to instal if you are the type that puts them in and reads the directions after the fact like I am. That has cost me a few times in the past but this one was really easy to do plus I have done them before.

Get it if you have a broken drain seat and don't want to disassemble the tank
I had a refill valve that was starting to fail in a toilet. I saw this kit was highly rated and promised ease of installation, so I tried it out. The kit is designed to be versatile and work for several toilet types. The flow valve is a standard float-based control. There's refill hose you attach to it to replace the one that the old valve used, and it attaches to the old overflow pipe with a refill clip. Then the kit also comes with a new flapper to replace the old one but it's affixed to this independent drain seat oddity that fits over the base of the old flush valve base. There's also a little roller valve attached to the refill hose, and a flapper adjustment, both intended to give you ways to save water. It works fine, but it's a bit as the kids say these days, a bit "extra". A bunch of the "innovations" here ended up being unnecessary or just didn't work for me. Here's where I had issues. - Refill hose: one end attaches to the fill valve assembly, that's fine. The other end they want you to put on a refill clip, which is sort of like a custom paper clip that hooks onto the old flush valve tube (you are not replacing the flush valve tube, just the fill valve assembly and the flapper). The instructions say not to put the refill hose directly into the flush valve tube, and the illustration shows the refill clip holds the refill hose just above the flush valve tube and points the flow into the tube. Conceptually, this is fine, but my old flush valve had a guide attached to the top with a place for the refill hose, so I didn't really need the clip, I was able to just reuse the old part. The way I did it was more intuitive and required fewer parts. - Flapper: Here's where things really got interesting. The underside of the drain set the kit comes with (with flapper attached) has an adhesive ring on the bottom. You peel off a paper to expose a sticky surface and then firmly press the drain seat onto the base of the flush valve. The adhesive like a putty, so it molds on and forms a nice seal. The issue is that the drain seat raises the level of the flapper a bit, so you're losing a bit of flow on the flush since the water doesn't drain as much (more water is left in the bottom of the tank). This was a real head scratcher...the new flapper has what appears to be standard dimensions, so if I have to retain the old flush valve tube, I could have just attached the new flapper on the base pegs the old flapper used. The extra drain seat isn't really necessary, although I suppose if you had a non-standard set of parts to deal with it might have been useful. The end result is that it works, but the flushes are quicker than they used to be. So I'm saving water and I didn't mess with the water saving adjustments yet. I think this new flush will work ok for a number 1, but for a number 2 you have to either hold the flush lever a second longer or flush twice, which is a hassle. I can adjust the fill level of the tank if I need to. The flow valve provides an easy way to do that. But if your toilet is standard, I don't know that this kit is better than a simpler one. I really only needed a new flow valve. A new flapper was probably ok too since the old one was pretty worn. But if the design causes the flush to be too insufficient, I may peel off the drain seat and transfer to the new flapper to the existing flush valve. This unit is probably best if you're forced to fix a non-standard drain seat, or a drain seat cracked on top and where the adhesive putty of the FluidMaster makes for an easier repair than dismounting the tank and replacing the whole drain seat; I think that was probably the primary use case for this kit.

Good Value Easy To Follow Instructions
This was a very good price considering you basically get 2 kits one or everything you need for maintenance on older hardware. This was incredibly easy to install. It had simple straight forward instructions that were easy to comprehend and follow along with. It also included a troubleshooting section to help you narrow down the problem. The plastic seems to be sturdy enough, is stronger then the plastic on the parts I was replacing. People don't think about replacing the inner workings of a toilet until it starts to get old and leak so it was extremely helpful to get this delivered the next day. I found no issues when installing this product, there were no missing parts. I was satisfied with the quality and ease of installation, especially at this price point. It also has a 5 year warranty from the manufacturer.

What worked best
It is a good idea to take a couple of pics of the existing tank interior before you begin. I had trouble understanding the written instructions. I watched Fluidmasters videos which helped a lot. My biggest problem was that the flapper seat looked like it had to be removed to install the seat that came with this or maybe use the use the piece that had adhesive on it to glue to the round plast piece in this area. I left the existing seat and removed the flapper from the adhesive seat and used it on the existing seat and so far it has worked ok. It would be nice to have a sectional drawing of the flapper. Now I saw a video where they want you to press the new seat onto the top of existing seat. The tank to bowl gasket may need replacing.

We had one toilet in our house that for some reason caused "knocking" in pipes when flushed....after trying many remedies to not avail, decided to replace the inner workings on the toilet tank and chose to try this replacement set. Problem solved! We've had no issue since installing this and have now done a second one......will definitely buy again!

Good for the money, easy to install. Ok, it takes a while to fill the bowl and is a little loud, but a good product.
