Are these (Milton (S-716)) push to connect or do you have to pull back the sleeve?

With the Milton ( S-716 ) , all you do is slide the sleeve back and insert the male coupler ,then slide then slid the sleeve forward and the two are locked together.

Can this coupler be used for natural gas?

It works well with compressed air at pressures up to 120 psi but I doubt it would meet building code to use it for natural gas or any explosive gas.

What is the length of the threaded portion?

The actual length of the threads is 3/8". Over all to the base of the hex would be 1/2".

what is the difference between quick change and push type couplers?

On “push in” couplers the locking collar stays back when a tool is not inserted. To insert a tool all you need to do is push the tool into the coupler, unlike traditional couplers that you manual have to pull the collar back and insert the tool at the same time. To release the tool is the same for both, pull back on the collar and it spits the tool out. The push in style couplers are significantly easier to operate, but tend to start leaking sooner than a traditional style.
