Columbia was an American racing yacht built in 1899 for the Americas cup races. This 12 meter yacht had a wooden hull and could sail at very high speed. Wooden hatches can be seen on the deck near the bow. Metal stanchions and railings can be seen around the cabin. The backstay rigging is tightly connected from the transom to the top of the mast. The main sail, jib, mast, and intricate rigging complete the definition of a true sailing boat. The model is secured tightly on a wood base with a brass name plate. The mast and sails are folded down for easy shipping.
