Short-changed
I enjoyed the basic story, but after repeated episodes it began to feel as if alcohol consumption was an unacknowledged extra character in the plot, and a boring one, at that. I also ended up feeling short-changed that there wasn't more about what made the relationship with Simon special. The telling just seemed too abbreviated by contrast to all Tess's previous encounters.

Great series for boomers
Easy read. Enjoyed the story and characters. And how they crossover into Der MacDonald’s other books.

interesting book
The book did not hit the right chord with me at this time. Maybe at a diiferent time I would have seen her dates as the hilarious disasters they were.

Fun Read!
I enjoyed reading about two older co-workers who are trying to navigate online dating sites and the men they meet. It was funny, insightful and encouraging to those who are looking for love or companionship, or maybe just a friend to enjoy life with. It’s also about feeling good about yourself and how putting in the work to help make that happen. I will be reading more of Dee McDonalds books!

Fun, light and Funny
Just cute and what I wanted after completing a relatively heart wrenching historical novel. Written well. Nice - very nice.

Not worth the read.
Was reported to be a hilarious page turner….. I found it to be a sad view of women in their 60’s. There was no laughing out loud moments for me. I had such hope for a light fun story for my book club. I even purchased the 9 books for my friends. Disappointing for sure.

While I didn’t find the book hilarious as described, I did enjoy it. The story was light-hearted, vaguely amusing in places, although I think I’m blessed, or cursed, with too much sympathy for the characters I read about and therefore I didn’t find the experiences with the ‘dates’ that funny because I sympathised too much with Tess. But the author certainly has a good imagination for expressing the lighter side of life. The writing was good, the characters were brilliantly painted so I could ‘see’ them all and it was a relaxing and easy read; perfect for holidays or for sitting in front of the fire on a chilly evening.
