Good
Super cute, funny, sweet, badass...of course generous helping of explicit content present but if one can navigate that bit...it's a keeper...

3.75 LIGHT STARS - tiny spoilers ahead
The kids definitely added a lot of charm to the story. Reading Jake's interactions with them had me smiling.Jake did have me rolling my eyes a tad at the start, especially his desperation to get to date number three with anyone, he was a bit of a manwhore. Jake blows hot and cold with Chelsea. The breakup felt a smidge random and didn't really see the point of it. I wish Chelsea had made Jake work for things even a little bit, but he is awesome with the kids. The romance between Jake and Chelsea could have been more compelling but still enjoyed the story as a whole. The kids were sweet little hellions. The book is told from Jake's POV only, which was interesting.Potential Triggers: Attempted rape/sexual assault and domestic violence (both very lightly touched upon).

I pre-ordered this book as soon as I turned the last page in the first novel in the series – Overruled. I have enjoyed everything I’ve read of Emma’s since I first read Tangled so I was looking forward to starting this.Honestly, in the beginning I really didn’t like Jake all that much which was pretty hard going because I usually love Emma’s leading men. I felt like I could have punched him half of the time and when he eventually met Chelsea I was sort of at war with myself between wanting them to get together and not thinking Jake was good enough for her. I think it’s partly due to the story being wholly from Jake’s POV because he is such a guy at times. But, as they say, it takes the love of a good woman! The story focuses mainly on Jake’s relationship with Chelsea and her family.Chelsea has had a lot of responsibility thrust upon her all in one go and is trying to juggle the needs of six very different children all at once. I loved Chelsea’s no nonsense attitude and the way she just stepped up to be a new mother for her nieces and nephews. She’s generous, kind of heart and the kind of girl you would want to be friends with. The story is told completely from Jake’s point of view so we never get to see her thoughts about Jake whereas her thoughts and feelings towards her family are very apparent and it really made me want things to work out for her.Jake’s character goes through quite a transformation throughout this book especially as he identifies with one of Chelsea’s nephews. The chemistry between the characters is off the charts and as Jake starts to do more of the “right thing” I started to come round to the idea that he was the man for Chelsea. Jake’s determined and goes after what he wants, thankfully that turned into going after what was best for Chelsea and her family.I enjoyed catching up with Stanton and Sofia in this novel and learning more about the next main character in the series too, which I can’t wait to read!

5 JAKE BECKER (and Cousin It) STARS.....
I absolutely adored this book. It had everything going on...Humour? Hilarious, laugh out loud funny. Heat Factor? Hell yeah. Angst? Yep...totally wanted to smack the hero upside the head. Twice. Addicitve? Ummmm....well, if staying up til the early hours because I simply HAD to see where the story went and then had to survive on coffee at work all day suggests an element of addiction , then count me in.I have not read the first book in this series but that did not affect my understanding of events in this book. The supporting characters are fab. But for me, what made this book work so well , was the interaction between Jake and the children. He really was their hero and the way it is written is just page turningly addictive. Excellent. And heartbreaking at times. (Particularly Rory ).I cannot recommend this highly enough. Stop reading the reviews and buy it. But maybe stock up on the coffee for tomorrow....you're going to need it.
