Is This Anything?

Disappointed. Missed opportunity. (EDIT)
I’m so disappointed. I thought this book would be a proper biography of Jerry. It’s not that at all. It’s a book of his jokes. Is This Anything?Honestly? No. No, it is not.EDIT:I gave this a harsh review. I still believe this book is a missed opportunity with more proper biographical content, but I have had a bit of a change of heart. To understand Jerry’s obsession with comedy is to appreciate his mind, his make-up, and his passion while simply reading his material. I will keep my above review because it really captured my true, initial reaction. But this book IS something. It’s the material of a true master of his craft. The material is 5 stars... but I still would’ve loved to know a little more by way of Jerry’s life, his family, his relationship, the emotions and uncertainty surrounding the pursuit of comedy full time. How about the ups and downs of Seinfeld? The demand on time and creativity? Pressure? Working with Larry David? This all would’ve been good biography fodder. But, alas, he is singularly focused, and maybe a book of his material captures his life in the most authentic way. That, I will have to appreciate.

Decades of Jerry- Perfection in every way
This book was a true delight. It is hilarious, and has the incredibly clever wit and observational humor we have come to expect from Jerry Seinfeld. It was great to read how his comedy started and how it’s evolved to where it is today.I highly recommend this book, as it was a lovely respite from a world that can often seem dark and stressful. As an added bonus, the hardcover has a beautiful aesthetic and looks fantastic on my coffee table.

Bwahahahahaha!
I’m only a quarter of the way through this book, and I’ve already got tears in my eyes from laughing. Thanks, Jerry. I need this.

Not worth the $
This is a stupid book at a big price. Out of 452 pages, there are a total of 20 pages that are not just the printout of Seinfeld routines from his notes. The notes are just the verbatim of his act. Nothing about how or why he did it that way. If you think Jerry is going to tell you something about Comedy, you can forget that idea. Save your money.

Redundant. Sorry Jerry.
If you already own Seinlanguage you pretty much know what inside this book. Kind of disappointed, I was expecting it to be an autobiographical critique of himself that would guide the reader as to how he approaches writing. Its okay. But sadly, as a fan of Jerrys', not what I expect.

Great Book for Laughing While Social Distancing
Jerry Seinfeld consistently makes me laugh. This book is like having his show back on TV, it's a view inside his view on things. I enjoy him. I watch his show every night instead of what passes for "news." Then Mr. HOOves and I watch Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee on Netflix. If you are looking for a reason to smile in a year that's lacking in smiles you will enjoy this book and everything else Jerry Seinfeld does. Great for those of us who need a break from the "real world."

Well, He’s No Norm Macdonald!
Jerry! Hello! I don’t know what my headline is intended to communicate. But seriously, love the book. I can’t know what it’s like for a celebrity to get such lavish praise from a complete stranger. But you get that all the time, and have for the past 40 years. But seriously. Try the veal!

Good if you're a fan of Seinfeld and/or mechanics of comedy
I'm no comedian, but I enjoy peeking behind the curtain. Nice to see these bits laid out on paper, presumably representing the way Jerry has them written down freehand somewhere. There's no commentary on the bits, but it's interesting (and funny) to read anyway. Nothing particularly new here, and I'd avoid this if you're not a fan of Jerry (but I can't imagine you'd be looking at it if you weren't).

NO WORDS!
Well of course I have words. I read before going to sleep, unfortunately, every few pages there is something so hilarious that, even committed to paper, I was corpsed to the point I could not even get the words out when attempting to relay the joke to my husband. It was like being stoned. As it was 2am, I imagine those the other side of the wall, next door, were utterly puzzled. This book is therefore recommended for people who live in detached houses, not just that, I had to get up and get a tissue. After a while it gets worse, as you start to hear it in Jerry's voice. I'm intrigued that he wrote the thing IN one-liners, either that or somebody hasn't quite grasped Kindle formatting. I want Jerry to plunge into his notes and write ten more books full of every joke he's ever done, as a contribution to fixing the mental health of so many of us in the dismal Lockdown. I've always been a fan anyway, now I think he should get a Nobel for Funny.

Good
It’s alright. Given the nature of the book a lot of the material has been published before. There’s some very good material, but it’s not the same without the delivery.

Seinfeld at his most erudite and heart warming
I use it to cheer myself up, doesn't need me to say he's a very funny guy, good at any time, but particularly in these times.

Not an Autobiography
I purchased this expecting an Autobiography of Seinfeld's life. Sadly this is a compilation of his work from his stand up and the TV Show, including the same material from his first book. Was mildly amusing but not worth the money I paid. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this due to the price.
