Fowler: My Autobiography

A good read
An interesting biography from someone who's career I have followed since his arrival at LFC. A brilliant goalscorer at LFC, and the other clubs he played for. A honest appraisal of his time in the game and it answered many questions I had as to the background behind some, if not all, of the decisions he made. well worth reading.

good read
The guy was phenomenal and his peak was robbed by injuries. Its a good read into the insight of the england camp under Glenn Hoddle and how Houllier managed (both idiots even before this book in my eyes). But also nice to see his thoughts around a lot of incidents in his career. I grew up watching Fowler and im a Sunderland fan, but who doesnt love this guy? One of the last truly world class strikers England ever produced too, one with personality for that matter.

Good read
This is a frank autobiography by ex Liverpool and England striker Robbie Fowler. I had recently read the autobiography of ex England footballer Ian Wright so it was interesting to compare the books. Although this book was interesting in parts it did not grab me like Ian Wrights book. I found this book a little repetitive and dragged on compared to the upbeat writing in the Ian Wright book.I found the book a little similar to Robbie's football career, promised so much more but in the end failed to live up to the true potential.

What really goes on behind the scenes.
Loved the book written from the heart.

No sitting on the fence here
Fowler was a controversial character in his playing days and there's plenty of strong opinions voiced here. I found his continuous use of "me" rather than "my" to emphasise his Toxteth upbringing a bit unnecessary and annoying, and the book is possibly too long, but I enjoyed his frankness and honesty.

Great story
I was very impressed and surprised , my opinion of him as a person has changed and my thoughts of Phil Thompson has changed along Gerard Houlier , what a pair of not nice people

Didn't make me like God
Robbie Fowler was always god in my eyes. As an ardent Liverpool fan I was excited about reading this book.Unfortunately I didn't enjoy it that much. I was left feeling that the insight into Robbie's character and life made me dislike him as an individual. Not what you want from a boyhood hero. On some issues I thought he protested just a little too much !He'll always be god though and it's great seeing him back in a red shirt

Robbie Fowler's Autobiography
It's an interesting book written together with a ghost writer, but I think it would have been far better without all the effing and blinding whichif read by youngsters could have a very negative affect. But as I am a fan of Robbie's and was sorry to see him leave Liverpool F.C. for the first time it still makes interesting reading learning for the first time about the streets of Toxteth and being a working class kid who has made it really good.I hope he eventually writes a sequel whenever he decides to retire from full time football and believe he has in in him to make a first class coach and manager.

Pretty good, really
Most books by football celebrities turn to be conservatively written, or worse, ghosted. One cannot level any of those two accusations at Fowler. The man wears his heart on his sleeve but does so with humility. Yes, the language will make some purists wince, but there is little doubting the sincerity of the man, or his affection for his club. Every hero has feet of clay, and Robbie is not afraid to hide his. Yes, he does tend to spend too much justifying his stance on many things, but all said and done, this is a very good book for all those interested in the man Liverpool supporters call "God."
