Q: My things are only 8 5/8" inches long so would these work for me still as replacements or not since these are 2" longer?

First, try them as is. If too long, simply cut to size with a hacksaw. I originally had 4 spacer grooves but the 6 spacer grooves worked just fine. Great replacement item for the original units! Just like new!!
