A chore to read
I found this book abit of a chore to finish in all honesty. Very unlikable characters with the exception of Toma (the reason for the 2nd star) and I didn't mind Logan - most likely because the latter isn't very relevant to the story. The story was completely unbelievable, Lexi is very bizarre, the whole driving to the friends house to see if they're really out.. weird and Jake is the most loathsome character even before I reached the end. The ending is rushed after being dragged out for nearly 300 pages. My first time reading an Adele Parks book after pre ordering this in March but highly likely to be my last.

Do not read
Poor book. The characters are weak and the “slang” the teenage daughter uses is straight from the 90s. Hardly in keeping with the times. The story lacks any really plot or twists until right at the end. The characters were cringe worthy, the story line was predictable and the outcome was an annoyance. It’s basically a book on what not to do if you win the lottery.Utterly disappointed I wasted the money. The reviews that are all listed are well beyond generous. There are elements of the book that are nothing more than crass.Complete let down.

Had promise, but ...
As an avid reader, I saw this book mentioned a lot on Twitter and decided to give it a go.The storyline was decent and enjoyable. But there a few issues that a good editor would have sorted out.Typos need to be sorted, a proofreader with an eagle eye should always be hired before a book goes to print. If I’m noticing these errors, so will others! And then a mistake that is more integral to the story. The characters played the same numbers every week for 15 years? Yet numbers above 49 have only been available for selection since 2015. So this is a huge flaw in the story that again a decent editor would have spotted and sorted. This had promise but I feel the editing stage has been rushed and could have done with at least one more pair of eyes to make sure the last mistakes were ironed out.

Didn't bother to finish
I bought 'Just my Luck' as it was cheap (£5) and I've not read the author before and thought I would give it a go hoping to find a new author I would love. However this book was not written in a way I found pleasing, the chapters written from the point of view of the teenage daughter particularly so. I didn't really care about any of the characters enough to get beyond 20% of the way through, life is too short to read bad books you are not enjoying so in the charity bag it went. Hopefully someone will enjoy it.

Unlikeable characters, unrealistic plot and spelling mistakes
A bit of a disappointing read as my first novel by this author (and perhaps also my last). I couldn‘t entirely sympathise with any of the characters, probably Emily‘s chapters were still the best, but all other characters didn‘t grab me, and the book went from a fairly interesting start that drew me into the lottery win theme, to a long-winded and annoying description of how the money is being spent by Jake in unrealistic ways. Not believable and far fetched. Jake turned into the most annoying character ever and I also couldn‘t entirely sympathise with Lexi. What really disappointed me was the amount of spelling errors in the book, an author of 20 books should have a better editing team on board that spot these mistakes before print. Once there was even a name used wrongly, the husband‘s name where the son‘s should have been. Bit embarassing for an author who receives so much praise.Happy to turn to better books now, I think I‘ll give this one to charity rather than keep in my book shelf collection.
