Really speaks TO a child instead of DOWN to a child
I teach social emotional learning classes to children online. Becoming stronger in Executive Functioning abilities is a big part of childhood learning. Flexible thinking is one of those skills. The author has done a fantastic job of making a complex subject easy to understand. Highly recommend all her books.Nanci Smith, Ph.D.

Fantastic resource
The simple, yet engaging illustrations paired with easy to understand text show how beneficial it is for children to engage in flexible thinking. This is a great resource for children that have difficulty with change or unmet expectations. It is perfect for use with my 2nd grade students, but I think it could be used with pre-K to 3rd to teach social skills.

Important Life Skill - Flexible Thinking!!
Besides my students loving the "Little Spot" characters, the metaphor with the trees is so relatable for kids! We are always working on "going with the flow" and "be a flexible thinker"! This will be a great lesson for my Kinders and 1st graders! Thank you for yet another great social/emotional book for our kids!

Be flexible
I’m a therapist and I’ve read this with a few kids. There are quite a few words that even some of my better readers had a hard time with so it might not be the easiest read alone book but the kids really liked it and it got the idea across.

Great book to explain flexible thinking!
My class gets so excited every time a new book is released. This book led to amazing discussions over how we can be more flexible in our thinking. This lead perfectly into Alber's next books, A Little Spot of Boredom and A little Spot of Frustration. I own all of the Spot books, and I am never dissappointed.

Flexibility in Routine!
Great comparison to trees (which we have witness break under pressure) and give alternatives especially when our routines are broken! Such kid-friendly language to learn these “big kid” thoughts!!!

A great way to teach kids (and adults) to be flexible and resilient. It is so nice to have these books to help teach my kids these important skills.

Absolutely LOVE!
I buy all of the Spot/Scribble books for my kids and we love them! I also shared them with a friend who works in a child care center and she's is just as obsessed as I am now. These books are amazing for teaching children about feelings, emotions and behaviors. My boys are high functioningAutistic but I recommend them to all of my friends and any else with children.
