Review: Very good content in this book, it is more of a reference book than an actual read. Review: First of all, there are a number of reports of a) covers (2nd ed.) not matching the content (1st ed.) and b) getting a 1st edition when ordering a 2nd edition....so please check your order carefully and report/return an incorrect book. Second....this is a terrific resource for anyone interested in the discipline of Change Management.....and yes, it is a BODY OF KNOWLEDGE not a HOW-TO book. It has been painstakingly created and updated to reflect the knowledge requirements of those who effectively practice the craft of change management. It contains a rich description of the knowledge areas required for success as well as a very robust set of additional references to obtain further information. This book will get dog-eared in no time---keep it handy to your workspace and enjoy the benefits of the insights of almost 1,000 successful change practitioners. The 2nd edition will help you with professional development gaps for the new world of work.

This book is an excellent companion for if you are pursuing the Accredited Change Manager (ACM) levels through the Change Management Institute (CMI). This book details and focuses on the skills required to achieve accreditation through the professional body. If you’re looking for a book that details information including models and theories on change management or an actual handbook then I recommend skipping this purchase and buying The Effective Change Manager’s Handbook: Essential guidance to the change management body of knowledge by Richard Smith, David King, Ranjit Sidhu, and Dan Skelsey.

This is a great body of knowledge for the change management professional. It provides comprehensive coverage of the different aspects of knowledge for change managers, and a detailed set of cross references to further readings. This is a real help for change management as a profession, which can often seem rather vague as to what it is. Where here it is specified. It is a work in progress, and no doubt there will be a second edition in the not too distant future. However, be careful before you buy. Be absolutely clear what you are buying when you buy this. It is a body of knowledge - i.e. it says these are all the things you should know to be a fully rounded change management professional. It does not describe these in detail but points to other sources for the details. It is not a "how to do change" sort of book, and if this is what you need, then I would advise you to look elsewhere. Unfortunately, it is also quite expensive for what it is.
