Great Price - Better With An LED Bulb!
Had thought of ordering the full-sized (D-cell) version, but saw this, and found out it uses a standard PR6 incandescent (same as the D-cell version). Since I had a spare Dorcy 41-1643 LED replacement for the PR6, I decided to take a chance. Decent little flashlight, just as it came, though I don't expect the AA batteries would last long with the incandescent bulb. Though I wondered if LED would pair well with the reflector focal length, they work beautifully, together. Focused, bright white light. Can't speak to durability, yet, but it seems well made. Very happy.

A smaller version of the old MX-991/U...good red light source for aging eyes
A recent study (July 2020) mentioned that shining a red light (~650nm) into your eyes for 3 minutes a day can improve aging vision by rejuvenating the rods and cones in your eyes. Wow, who'da thunk?Giving it 30-seconds of intense thought, I realized that these mini GI flashlights were just the ticket. They're incandescent not LED, so they won't burn out your retinas or optic nerves (this is a good thing). Plus, they're supplied with 4 lenses (including red) used for signalling (clear/red), hunting (green), and night vision (red/blue) purposes. After getting a pair of AA batteries and lens installed, they work great. The only minor caveat is that the on/off switch is a little stiff on initial use. Just work it back and forth a few times and it will loosen up. BTW, the extra lenses _store_ in the end butt cap (NOT the battery compartment cap) and _install_ in the front lens cap (NOT the bulb compartment cap).Great solution for rejuvenating aging eyeballs. Highly recommended.
