Lots of good stuff, but then ...
One has to look no further than political ads to realize that the facts are often hard to find in the wash of information that hits us everyday. While somewhat wordy, the first nine chapters were filled with interesting and useful examples of "lies, spin, scams and fraud." I loved the "What you can do" section at the end of each chapter, which are valuable "calls to action". The tenth, however, is so misguided that it makes the book worthless on the whole. By all accounts, education in the USA today is woefully deficient in science, among other things, which now leaves us with a populace that largely doesn't understand science, especially how it works. Realin has fallen into this trap. He cites stories where the scientists involved are really the bad guys. The bad guys are the hucksters, corporate interests and the like that twist scientific result their way, but Realin doesn't present it this way, except for the first quote he includes in the chapter's "What you can do" section, which points out that science will correct itself by it's nature and the "bad scientists" are being duped. Except for this quote the whole chapter is biased in a perfect example of the sort of spin the book is purported to give us tools to resist.

COURAGEOUS EFFORT - NO SPIN HERE
Frank Realin invested a lot of time to bring us this refreshingly honest look at the world we live in. In the first pages I learned things I didn't know about Richard Nixon and the Challenger disaster. The chapter on propaganda is informative if not a little scary. Diving Deep shines a light on some dark corners of society and I applaud him for his courage.Mike MadiganPrivate Investigator/AuthorIntegrity Publications
