Good value solid item.
This is a lovely piece of work and the birds took to it as soon as it was hung. It arrived next day in top condition. It's solid and also easy to fill. The small birds have no problems hanging upside down on it and eating the flavoured fat slap we put inside it. I honestly thought the wild birds would be nervous of it at first as it's a fair size and a different shape to the other feeders but that hasn't happened. We bought this to hold fat for the smaller birds because the bigger birds like Jackdaws were going through fat balls and fat slabs faster than we could fill the containers. The smaller birds weren't having a look in. I've noticed that the jackdaws are really struggling to feed upside down from it, so it's doing it's job well! So, all is good in our garden lol! Please don't think we are mean towards jackdaws because we know they need food too, but they can still eat the fat balls hanging in a different container in a different part of the garden. Would recommend to anyone who has a similar problem to us.

Ideal for little birds
Good sturdy container. Bought to encourage the smaller birds and deter the bigger ones. Located on a tree which I can view from the kitchen window. It took a while for the birds to use but now a delight to watch.

Birds don't use it
I bought this because I have a problem with starlings and they apparently can't use it. Well they can't, but neither can any of the rest of my garden birds. I hung it at an angle so the birds could see what was there, and it's hanging on a feeding station along with all the rest of my feeders. It's been there for nearly a month and it's been completely ignored sadly. It's a shame because it's actually a really nice sturdy attractive feeder, the birds just don't use it.

Good
Bit on the small side for woodpeckers, working well for blue tits, nuthatch and the starlings (rolls eyes).

Found out about this from a friend
Hitherto I found the suet slabs I put out in a "cage" type feeder were getting consumed (mainly by starlings) at a phenomenal rate, like sometimes one in a couple of days. Also, they could be caused to deteriorate by heavy rain. With this type only the blue tits can manage to access the slab and the roof over the slab protects it from rain. Consequently it lasts for weeks! So, plus points all round for me - I would much prefer to feed the smaller birds whereas the starlings I find tend to be both messy and destructive.

Rubbish.. wood goes mouldy!
Left it a few months before writing a review as I knew it needed to be tested properly and it’s failed miserably! For £17 it’s cheap tat that goes mouldy in a short space of time.. so will not last the winter! A an expensive bird feeder that only lasts a few months. I’ve got other wooden feeders that were cheaper than this and are better quality…. Shame as the birds liked it.. especially the woodpeckers.. but I don’t want to poison them with mouldy food!!

Great upside down bird feeder
I had a problem with bigger birds taking all the food and breaking the feeders to do this, this is great as small birds only can use, very well made!

Not Squirrel proof
Great product very well made bought so starlings wouldn't eat suet before smaller birds got a chance, which as stated in product info they can't hang upside down for long. But a crafty squirrel has managed to get at it tipping it while holding on with 1 paw therefore most of suet gone before I managed to observe how it was done
