Moisture meters use the principle of electrical resistance to measure the conductivity of the soil. 1 simply put- it is because water conducts electricity well, high moisture content in the soil is measured by higher electrical currents indicate drier soil. Can this detect the moisture on orchid potting mix?

i have not tried it with orchid soil but i don't see why it wouldn't. Its a very good meter.
