Update 1/8/22: after only a few weeks of growing these guys out- unfortunately I did not get a “baby leaf” type of plant. The seeds have now grown to a very long leaf. They still carpeted extremely well and are growing phenomenally… but are not what they were marketed as. That’s the one thing I wouldBe wary of.Other reviews have described these seeds as a scam, or even better “bags of snot.” But they’re actually really great if you know what you’re doing.. to have success with these seeds- you ABSOLUTELY NEED to dry start them. If you just pour the bags of seed into your aquarium that’s full of water, THEY WONT WORK. why? These seeds can’t germinate properly in a tank full of water.. they’re coated with a gel like substance that helps them stay in place after you water them- so when you pour them in a tank full of water, and that gel coating is activated? it’ll look a lot like snot.For my bags I believe got the “baby leaf” which I believe to be either Monte Carlo or Dwarf baby tears?- and after 7 days of dry start, I began to see little green sprouts. Once you see your first few leafs, they take off. The photos I’m uploading are from 9 days of dry start.Here’s how I did it, and had success.1. Full the bottom of your aquarium with a nutrient rich substrate. I used Fluval Stratum.2. Spray down the substrate THOROUGHLY. You want it nice and wet.3. Sprinkle your seeds in. Get ‘em where you want them, because they’re hard to move after you’ve watered them a few times.4. Give the seeds a good heavy misting.5. Cover the top of your aquarium with plastic wrap to create a mini green house.6. Put a good light on them. I used the Aqueon Planted Aquarium clip on light. It’s not the best light- but its getting the job done.Everyday you’re going to mist your seeds 2-3 times. Uncovering the aquarium allows for gas exchange, but once your done, cover it back up and don’t lift the wrap till it’s watering time again. I leave my light on for 10-12 hours a day.I started seeing growth on day 7- but it can take longer. Patience is seriously key with this. If you can’t be patient, this may not be the product for you- buy after 9 days, the plants are looking phenomenal and I cannot wait to see how they look once they’ve really grown out.Good luck to whoever purchases these guys! They’ve been fun so far :)

This was meant to be a small leaf variety.Not so much. Easy 40cm in height now.

I was very excited for them but in the end were very disappointed. It did not grow at all. No progress whatsoever. We watched videos of how to grow them too in case I did anything wrong but there was still no growth progress. Huge disappointment. I ended up through the seeds to garbage.

I bought these seeds a week ago to aquascape my new 10 gallon Betta tank. It is so crucial to do research before beginning this process because it will determine how well your plants grow. Keep reading for tips on how to successfully grow Monte Carlo! :) I would recommend having these items if you’re considering buying these seeds:- Nutrient rich plant substrate. If you don’t have this then I would recommend buying grow tabs. I personally used CaribSea eco complete substrate and used seachem flourish tabs to speed up the growth process.- Plant fertilizer of some sort. I used seachem flourish, and mixed it with some water in a mister/sprayer.- Plant light/ grow light. I used the hygger 18 Watt planted tank light.- Saran Wrap of course to keep the moisture in.- Heat lamp/ heat pads if the temperature is below 68° F.What I did to be successful:- 12 hour light cycles daily using a medium-high light setting. I noticed that the higher the setting used, the faster the growth.- Mist plants 2x a day with liquid fertilizer and water mixture (make sure to not drench them, and make sure there are no puddles in the substrate!)- Remove Saran Wrap 2x a day for 10 minutes (20 minutes per day total)- I kept my tank at 80° F the whole time and I think that really helped speed up the process. Heat + moisture = successful and faster seed germination.- If you have issues with gnats or other bugs attacking your seeds, use a little bit of cinnamon and that should help! I didn’t personally have this issue, but I have seen other people use it when they have those issues.Also, Keep in mind that these seeds must be dry started, meaning that you cannot put water in your tank until the plant has rooted. Not correctly using a dry start method can ruin the growth process of these plants. The process can be time consuming, so it’s important to stay patient. if you’re not willing to put time, work and patience into the process then these seeds are probably not for you. But for those who do decide to try this out, Good luck on your new plants!! :) Your animal will love them!

I really did a deep dive into the reviews to see if these seeds were worth ordering. I ended up ordering them knowing they very well may be a plant called 'Dwarf Hygrophila' which also goes by 'Hygrophila Polysperma'. These stem plants grow tall and fast, and I hear are also considered invasive, so dispose of unused seeds with this in mind.Many reviews say the conditions of germination are picky, where others say their seeds did not germinate at all. The seeds to produce a gel like coating, similar to chia seeds if you've ever had a chia pet. However, its not alot of gel, and if you planted them correctly, you shouldn't have a layer of 'snot' as other reviews have stated.While the product description states a wait of 5 to 7 days before sprouting, the seeds I recieved germinated and had visible roots on day 2, which was pleasantly unexpected.Here were the things I did to see these results:-I sprinkled them on the surface of washed auqeon shrimp/plant stratum in select places, keeping the tall nature of the plant in mind-I filled the tank with dechlorinated water just till it was level with the lowest line of substrate in the tank. (Not above the substrate)-misted the entire tank till everything was wet and the seeds were well moistened.-placed the tank on a heated seed germination mat to raise the temperature in the tank-covered the tank with plastic wrap, leaving only a small gap where I had heater and surface skimmer cords hanging out-I am leaving the lights on for 10/12 hours a day-i only open the plastic wrap twice a day for around 10 minutes at a time to prevent mold growth and re mist any and all dry areas (with de chlorinated water) in the tank before I turn the lights on/off-look but don't touch! Leave the wrap on the tank and avoid opening it to provide the seeds with a greenhouse effect, unless doing the steps above.I am excited to see how they continue to grow! I will try and post an updated review once I have seen more results.
