The Duly Diligent Stock Investor: Practical Principles for Creating Your Own Fund of Safe and Profitable Investments

Good guidebook for new investors.
Good book for those who want to know what work is required for managing a stock portfolio. While the book is thin, it still contains the essential aspects of stock analysis. I think it is manageable for the beginner, and still appropriate for experienced investors--like myself--who just need a refresher course. There are many easy decisions in investing, like paying down credit card debt before buying stocks or using a discount broker or buying companies that you understand or reading the free annual reports provided by each company. Paul Wagner takes readers through these decisions, so that they do not make unnecessary mistakes. Mistakes will inevitably happen, but this book helps to avoid the avoidable mistakes.Mr. Wagner made a successful career out of picking good investments from bad ones. Want to know if your stock is a stinker? Investors in US stocks are lucky. All the information that Wall Street professionals have, we have, too! This is a guide to reading the owner's manual for every stock that is available to buy. It shows you how to see if the company is making money, if it has borrowed too much money, if it is doing worse than its competitors, and if it is selling for a good price. There are many other investment books on the market, but I would start here.

Best Book for Beginning and Experienced Stock Market Investors
This is a great book for both beginning and experienced stock investors.I have read several excellent books on investing including: A Random Walk Down Wall Street, Contrarian Investment Strategies, and Stocks for the Long Run. All excellent books over 400 pages. The author supplies the reader with a clear and concise overview of the stock selection process:1. Eleven Principles2. Simplifies accounting terms and demonstrates how to use them with just a $2.99 calculator.3. Provides timeless essential understanding of what you need to know to set out purchasing stocks.4. My favorite principle: Diversify, but not too much.5. Explains the risks of owning a stock and how to minimize it.The investing world will continue to change, but the principles and methods in this book will help guide investors forward by providing a solid bedrock of perspective and know-how in changing times.

Takes the mystery out of buying stocks
If I wanted to know what the experts in the field say about investing in the stock market, I would buy Benjamin Graham's book, "The Intelligent Investor", but that would require reading over 600 pages of dry, complicated theories and terminology.I would prefer to sit down at the kitchen table and have a friend (who retired early due to his investment success) sit there with me and explain the steps I need to take to begin my own investment portfolio.Well, the next best thing is buying Paul Wagner's new book "The Duly Diligent Stock Investor". It is only 98 pages and written in a conversational style with humor and personal experiences. This is not at all like reading a college textbook! Reading and following his easy steps prepares you to buy your first stock. Then watch your money start working for you.
