Miracle Sound 3.5mm Female Microphone Adapter Cable to fit The GoPro HERO3, HERO3+ & HERO4

The micro connector breaks easy with any pressure, or accidental push while filming. Mine is broken but is still working. I ordered several replacements from different suppliers but they are taking their sweet time. I am actually considering using a hot glue gun to see if I can repair the damage. I have not done it because, if the hot glue fixes the connector, I don't have a backup replacement here yet. But as soon as those replacements arrive, I will try the fix and see if it works.

This adapter does not work for a Hero 3+ because it does not have the required number of connections on the USB mini B connector, so the microphone is not recognized by the camera. The camera USB connector has a pin used to identify the kind of cable that is plugged in. The identification is done by connecting a resistor from the ID pin to ground. To use an external microphone, the resistor must be 330 K ohm.A 10 pin USB mini B connector is required. You can tell if a USB mini B connector has 10 pins by looking inside the end to see if there are connections on both the top and the bottom of the connector. This connector only has pins on the bottom, so it only has 5 connections.In an attempt to use a connector from a cable that has a 10 pin mini B connector, I found that the pins 4 and 5 were shorted together. These are the ID pin (4) and the ground pin (5). Removing the short and connecting a 330k resistor, as well as connecting the proper microphone pins, works as expected.

Works well. Make sure your camera does not need the thinner micro-USB input. This is the thicker one.

I could barely plug in the mic. I'm not sure this item is three prong stereo compatible or not. I need STEREO!
