J-B Weld Tabletop Epoxy Resin, 32oz Kit, Cures Clear, Fast Cure Time, Minimal Bubbling, Scratch & Water Resistant

Made a desk and this was my first time using epoxy. I wanted shine and something that wasn't going to get damaged easily from spills and water cups. Based on my DIY and online research - epoxy has a big learning curve. I chose this product because it wasn't too expensive and there was a lot of online education. Product had great directions and worked better than I was expecting. Just know that epoxy coating takes a while to fully cure (up to 72hr to be safe), its super easy to get dust trapped if you are doing it in an area like a workshop, and bubbles are a menace! This is a great product and will be using again. Just make sure you read up and practice a little! It's fun.

Awesome quality. No issues. Sands easy 220grit. self levels. I have used with food and no issues. I wouldn’t put anything too hot!Overall show room quality !

Simple and straight forward to use. Definitely have your heat gun handy. Take your time.

I was reeeeeal intimidated by this. Lots of words, and I'm certified dyslexic, with terrible reading comprehension. I spent a lot of time on painting my son's toddler desk, and I sure as heck didn't want to ruin it. I didn't have a heat gun to get rid of bubbles, I didn't feel confident with the squeegee...I was worried. I mixed this (1:1 ratio, like it said) but with a stick instead of a drill, for 5 minutes. There were SO MANY BUBBLES!! I let it sit for a min, like it said, and still, so many bubbles (pic of mixture). I thought, well. Let's just do this. So I poured it on (pic of mixture poured with all the bubbles). I had gloves, so I just spread it around with my hands. There are absolutely no bubbles, and it is SO PERFECT!!!! I couldn't be happier. Also, I did do a test piece on a piece of wood that only had a small section of paint on it. If the wood isn't painted, you will need layers. The wood soaked it up. But the painted part didn't absorb any. So yeah, I'm thrilled. Pics of the desk. It's so shiney and perfect!!!

Comes out looking like glass!!! Definitely a winner!!!Easy and affordable alternative to buying new countertops. I transformed old laminate with epoxy paint and marble spray texture, covered by this clear epoxy and a few hours later looks just like marble. I couldn’t be happier!

It doesn't. It was 70F and I used a heat gun liberally. It smoothed out nicely but as it set, it wrinkled in some places. I'm less than impressed.UPDATE: I bought another batch. I sanded the 1st coat and reapplied it. This time I put the table in a room with a heater at about 80F overnight and heated the coating in hot water before mixing. It came out better but it's not showroom quality by a long shot. It doesn't self level to flat like water no matter how much heat you put on it. Wiping it with a hand and rubber glove does smooth it out some, better than a squeegee.So, now I have an extra thick coating. It should be quit durable but any Chinese made table top will have a much smoother looking finish. It's on a rolling island I'm making for the kitchen. It'll get a beating and I think it will handle that but it's a far cry from being a professional smooth finish.2d update: This has been on the island for a few weeks now. It's not holding up at all. It's getting general kitchen use and we're very careful to never use a knife on it. It's showing many scratches, some deep enough to feel with a fingernail. We used this because it's advertised to be very durable but it's not durable at all, at least for appearances. I suspect that after a year, it'll look pretty bad.

Like all epoxy, you need to take your time and be careful mixing, but it did a super nice job on a bar I made. The bar was home sawn lumber, so I wanted the tooth marks in it. I did a couple hours so it would be smooth on top while still brining out the rugged lines.
