I love that you don't have to be "techy" to understand ...
I never truly learned how to use all the features on my old Galaxy S4, so I promised myself I'd learn to use my new phone to every advantage. I'm reading this book cover to cover, sometimes jumping to a specific task as needed, and after a week I'm really enjoying all that the S7 can do. Some of it is for those brand new to Samsung Galaxy phones, but even that told me a lot I didn't know before. It's written clearly, in plain English, with detailed steps for every task. I love that you don't have to be "techy" to understand it. Until it becomes second nature, I know I'll be referring to this book a lot.

Like the book
Like the book. Very helpful. Not clear about some issues. Doesn't address important things like - if maximize time to next charge, many things will not be displayed which are necessary to configure items so pictures of screens in book are not visible. But would probably have to be 3 times longer book for all the possibilities. Luckily have daughter who is smartphone savvy to help me.

Good for first-time smartphone user
As a new smartphone user and a senior, this book has been a life saver. I can sit with the book in one hand and the phone in the other and get the new piece of technology figured out, so I can get the maximum usage out of the phone. It takes the reader by the hand and guides through the various features without insulting the intelligence of the reader. Highly recommended.

Generally disappointed
For starters, the book was great. Chapter 1-5 were very basic, but it was good to review and refresh, plus I learned a lot of new things. But from then on, I often felt I was reading directions for a different phone. For example, Ch. 7 on making phone calls, the set ups shown in the book didn't resemble anything that I could see or pull up. The paragraph on hearing aids tells me to open screen settings, tap more settings. Only problem, my settings didn't even offer a "more" setting, let alone a "hearing aid switch". Other settings in this chapter in no way reflected the commands on my phone. Good thing I have a better than working knowledge on emails and contact lists, for the instructions were so convoluted I felt like a detective trying to figure out what I was suppose to do. Chapt. 9 on texting goes into great depth to do fancy things like texting photos and videos, where I just wanted to learn how to send, receive, delete texts. Worst of all, not even a mention of verbally texting a message. I knew that could be done and friends showed me a microphone on their text screen, but none on mine. Only with the help of a clerk in a clothing store who saw my frustration trying to text, did I learn that a microphone was hidden behind the emoji!!!!! Who would have thought? Also, we're encouraged to increase the font size if necessary which I finally was able to do, but only through trial and error on my own. Certainly not by following the book's directions! Chapter 11 was an insult. Book kept trying to put me into Chrome, which is not my browser of choice. I DO NOT WANT TO SWITCH TO CHROME, yet book kept insisting in that direction. So, all in all, would I recommend this book? Yes, to review and learn more of what one already knows, but to try to learn new things, hang on and be prepared for poor and confusing. explanations. The one chapter I found pretty helpful was on using the camera and forwarding the pictures via e-mail. I leaned a lot there. So, buy the book if you must, but be prepared for a heavy dose of frustration.

Excellent for Seniors with Smartphones
I bought this for my father because his phone did not come with a user manual. I guess those are no longer provided because of easy access to computers. My Dad doesn't own a computer and was constantly going back to the store where he bought the phone for assistance because he kept losing apps and accidentally blocked callers he wanted to keep, not to mention a host of other needs like accessing email and text messages. This book was his lifesaver. I wish all smart phones had paper user manuals for people who need them.

... known for my technical abilities and resisted getting a smart phone for as long as I could
I am not known for my technical abilities and resisted getting a smart phone for as long as I could. (I was quite happy with my Samsung Rugby II). My family, including grandchildren, backed me into a corner and I very reluctantly got a Samsung S7. I sat down with my new phone and my new book and launched into a new period in my life! I have to say, I love my Samsung S7 phone and every time I have aquestion my "Book For Seniors" comes to the rescue.P.S. I'm driving everybody in my family crazy sending unnecessary text messages! Both are necessary and useful to me
It was helpful but a little vague in places. I went to Samsung's website and downloaded the manual that they provide for this phone. Both are necessary and useful to me. These books have different kinds of information and deal with different problems.
